It's pretty sad since when she first got her design she was upset she wasn't a generic anime girl and was thankful people still watched her. I unironically consider it one of the best designs in hololive and vtubing as a whole, she's very distinctive and stylish. It's just a shame she didn't use her momentum more and went with APEX, now recovering would be an uphill battle. But she is pretty intelligent so hopefully she can come up with some fun/creative things. I play it so that's why I tend to like it, I watch Astels Apex streams all the time. Picking up good habits from those who are better than me, just kind of cheering them on when they pull off a cool play, etc. With a good streamer though they tend to have the ability to kind of "think in tandem" where they can talk about something with chat but still play the game well, so neither the gameplay nor the commentary suffers. If streamers can't do that even collabs tend to fall flat with that game though, so it's not really a good stream game for those types.

I can't speak to Ollie's situation, but Reine was my oshi and things tumbled off a cliff at the beginning of this year. A bunch of things happened all around the same time (her spamming Vampire Survivor or a similar game several days per week, having a small episode over Elden Ring backseating and being distant with chat afterwards, and canceling streams to hang out with ID members) that have just sort of snowballed into her being a shadow of what she was last year. The trouble with structuring your whole draw around breaking boundaries is that when you run out of boundaries to break, people stop watching you. You might be entertaining on your own, maybe, but you've accustomed your tourists to the high of taboo-breaking and anything you deliver afterwards will be considered filler content.
Ollie rode so much at the start on the "I'm not like the typical holo! I collab with lots of indies! I collab with holostars!" And people came to see what they imagined to be the marker of a sea change, or a historic moment in Hololive happening - that they might lead to something huge but vague and undefined in their mind, and they would be able to say "I was there". But nothing really happened aside from, 'yeah, it was a collab.' The audience has been so desensitized to the point that an Astel-Dttodot collab pulls LESS viewers than a solo APEX stream. Both pretty likable streamers, a Master and a Pred, and you pull 1.1K max? That was insane to see.
Ironically this applies for her other things as well. People came in because they thought they could be witnessing the start of something great. Imagine! She can't fire a gun without screaming now, but when she becomes plat in a year I can say I supported her. Ollie is one of my favorite holos and I like her personality and humor (even despite the zoomer-ness) but the problem for me is that she doesn't really create much actual entertaining content. Her selection of games is just a huge miss for me. Usually Apex/Valorant with males or some random mobile-tier games I can't even pretend to care about. Well just for one example she should have capitalized on Rust. I know it's too late now since viewers and holos are a bit fatigued on Rust already, but IMO Ollie is at her best when interacting with other holo girls and the spontaneous-collab nature of Rust would have been perfect for her. She likes FPS, like crafting games, and likes collabing, plus most other IDs were also playing so it's really a mystery to me why she wouldn't play it.

Also retro games, I don't even watch a lot of JP content but I've been watching Noel play Majora's Mask, Koyori play Mario 3, etc. On top of that, just playing new/AAA games like Elden Ring (I don't care about that game in particular, just using it as a recent example). The trick is lots and lots of games are popular, you can find one that's popular and in a genre you like. Apex is even popular (though it's on the decline for streams, it used to be bigger for them), but the ones who get BIG views on FPS games tend to have better skill. You can be middling at it but you've got to make up for it with bantz with chat, if you're actually BAD it's much harder, that's just how FPs games are for streamers. Astel gets arguably the most views in his Apex streams because of this.
