I think the problem is that Gura doesn't like asking for things, and is happy to receive the absolute bare minimum. Her depression definitely doesn't help with that. She COULD ask for a bunch of nice things, and could actually get a bunch of nice things, but she won't ask, because she feels like she doesn't deserve them. Coco's original live2d was stiff but it wasn't off model bad, and while matsuri has her floating pigtails they are not immediately apparent to the average viewer, much like how most people don't notice that Pekora's face is just a floating plate that slides up and down when she moves. Up until this point no one really made a fuss about it. Also while his previous work weren't exactly good they were at least serviceable. This is the first time he fucked up so dramatically that even a casual viewer can tell that something is wrong, and that lead to people pulling at the threads until the entire curtain falls apart.

Honestly I'm a little glad that he fucked up like this. If the floating ear didn't happen he'd probably be coasting along with his mediocre quality work. At least now cover might think twice before contracting him again.

I think most people gave the first model a pass due to various reasons. Clearly, Gura pre-debut and now are two completely different monsters. Her new model should be significantly better than her last. The idea of a new model being even on the same level of her debut model means the whole thing has failed and is shit. No, they're not. Even among her genmates the other models have noticably higher quality rigs. This one is really, really bad to the point it should be insulting that Cover thought it was fine to cut corners that hard. It needs to be nipped in the bud because otherwise they'll just keep using this rigger and accepting their low quality. They've already plagued Anya, Matsuri, Coco, and Gura with this shit.
