>Flowfish
>Nasfaqg, specifically the Heartflow Strait
>A species of fish

A species of fish that have been affected by the chuubanitic pollution of the Heartflow Strait.
Flowfish eat other smaller fish and zooplankton that live in the Heartflow Strait. The chuubanitic pollution from vitium-industries located all across the shores of the strait accumulates in the foodweb and concentrates particularly well in the muscle and fat tissues of the flowfish.
Flowfish typically grow to be between 5 and 8 cm long. The largest confirmed specimen to have been caught was 56 cm. It is theorized that flowfish do not have an upper limit to their body size, instead continuing to grow larger until they are caught or die of other causes. The larger the flowfish grow, the more potent the chuubanitic concentration in their flesh becomes.

The typical flowfish has no clear magical abilities, however experiments using larger specimens (16cm and up) have shown that as the fish grow larger, they begin to exhibit anomalous behaviour. Among these is a considerably higher intelligence and the ability to learn. Large flowfish (24 cm and up) have been shown to be able to solve rudimentary puzzles, such as navigating a maze, and pulling levers or strings to gain access to food after having been shown an example a few times. Even larger flowfish, the rare specimens of 32cm and up, have been shown to be able to remember human faces, and recognize themselves in a mirror (a dot was painted on the side of the flowfish, and then a mirror was placed in its tank. The flowfish proceeded to inspect the mirror, and after it noticed the spot in its mirror image, the fish proceeded to try to scrape this side of itself against the tank, in a presumed attempt to get the dot off). In one peculiar instance, "George", a 34cm long flowfish of the Tripoint Ka-ti Institute at Solus, was shown to have been taught to play tic-tac-toe. George could consistently tie against children between the ages of 6 and 8.
Flowfish of 40cm and up have been used in experiments predicting the movements of the market a day or two in advance. The results of these experiments have never been released to the public, but at least in one instance a biologist known to have been associated with flowfish experiments suddenly increased his net-worth by 91.4% within a week through a series of risky bets in local mahjong tournaments.

Flowfish cannot live in captivity for much longer than a month or two. Smaller specimens are known to survive for longer than larger ones. The reason for the flowfish dying off is unknown, but consistent. The fish seem to slowly wither away, even if they are fed. Farming flowfish has thus proved ineffective.
It appears that when taken away from a constant supply of nasfaqg type chuubanite, they slowly lose their presumed chuubanitic abilities. Whether the Flowfish Withering Syndrome (FWS) and the lack of just the right types of nasfaqg chuubanite are connected, is currently unknown.

Flowfish flesh and fat are known to have various desirable effects on their consumers. The flesh has a stimulating effect, akin to caffeine, increasing the awareness of the consumer slightly. Anecdotes of flowfish eaters point to flowfish flesh and caffeine amplifying each other's effects. In large amounts flowfish flesh is claimed to allow one to "enter the Flow", increasing their luck whilst giving the eater a considerable boost to their mood and energy levels. This state, known as "Flowfish High" is often sought after by amateur mahjong players trying to make a name for themselves in the parlors. These players are often pejoratively called "Fish-Breath" by the more experienced flowfish aficionados, who themselves prefer to use the far less disagreeable smelling (and considerably more expensive) oil of the flowfish.

Flowfish are usually consumed dried, although in places where the fish is caught fresh, they are often used as part of local cooking.
Overuse of flowfish is believed to have various negative side effects, most prominent among them negative mental conditions such as heightened anxiety, depression, and increased risk of schizofication.

>The Legendary Flowfish
>Nasfaqg, specifically the Heartflow Strait, Lover's Strait, Heartlight Isles, and Moonwaters.
>A cryptid or a monster

A flowfish specimen of unknown size (Most stories approximate the fish to be between 16 and 24 meters), rumored to live in the Heartflow Strait. The Legendary Flowfish has never been caught, and those who claim to have seen the fish all describe it differently, some claiming it's scales glow with all the colours of the rainbow, and others saying that the scales were reminiscent of the night sky, black all over with shining bright spots. Various other descriptions also exist, some even claiming that the Legendary Flow"fish" is no fish at all, but a snake, or a whale. Everyone does agree on getting a weird certainty of the animal they were witnessing being the Legendary Flowfish. Veteran fishermen claim that no other creature could have a presence such as the Legendary Flowfish.

Where the stories do agree is the Legendary Flowfish being extremely smart. In almost every story, the fish is described as evading, toying, and playing with those who try to capture it, in some stories such as the "Tale of Valt William and the Great Fish", the creature is described as outsmarting and outmaneuvering entire fleets of coordinated fishing vessels, and even sinking William's boat, eating his precious golden pocket watch as a presumed taunt, and then swimming away never to be seen by William again. In the story, Valt William who had visited the far southern realms of Writhaven and Pingviinilä, described the Legendary Flowfish as reminding him of the southern winter night sky when the fish swam close to the surface, "Like the Auroras swimming underwater".

In some stories however, the Legendary Flowfish has been described a protector or an omen of some sort. In the "Tales from Southaven" story collection, an unnamed fisherman had been seeing dreams of the Legendary Flowfish capsizing the fisherman's boat as he prepared to go out to the sea, and every time this had happened shortly after the fisherman's home village was destroyed by a massive storm. According to the story, as the fisherman next day went out to the sea, the Legendary Flowfish appeared and impacted the man's boat. Reminded of his nightmares, the fisherman returned to the shore, and when he inspected his boat he found that where the Legendary Flowfish had hit his boat was five deep scrapes. Convinced that these scrapes were a warning, the fisherman gathered the villagers and convinced them to leave the village as soon as possible and head to the nearby town further inland. Five days later a massive storm swept through the area and when the villagers returned to their home they found that the entire settlement had been washed out to the sea.

Many a fisherman and cryptid hunter have made it their life's goal to capture the Legendary Flowfish, but no one has yet succeeded in doing more than merely witnessing the beast.

Sure!
Holo-Japonian Hyperwar
Conflict that set native Japonians against a number of chuuba-related factions. Tensions began to rise with the growth of the HoloEmpire, and reached a breaking point as the HoloMyth powers gained power. Ended in the Board Split event.
First thru Seventh Trinity Wars
Moriji's most common civilized warring partners would probably be found in the Trinity nations, which have had a measure of tension with the island almost since their founding. These tensions have flared up a number of times throughout their shared history, though the military bloc of the Trinity has presented a less solid front in recent centuries.
First Ordurial War
Moriji's first great schizo event, which acquainted the nation with who would end up being a repeated foe.
War of Independence
In the chaos following the board split, Moriji, who had always had poor relations with the Global Empire's leadership, immediately took the opportunity to cut itself politically from the control of the Emperor.
Tearful Wars
Though there had been some scuffles prior, this were the first major theologically-motivated conflicts with the Kaiserreich. This series of wars created some schisms in the relations between the nations that never quite healed in the Kaiserreich, in no small part due to the ideological distanciation of Moriji relative to the rest of the Holo Nations as a whole.
First Matiyotl Raids
This is approximately when the proud Matiyotl raiders of the Neutral continent first attacked Moriji.
First thru Fifth Global Wars
Following the War of Independence, the truce between Moriji and its ex-government did not last long. These long wars have varied in cause, between attempts to bring the rebellious nation back into the fold, retribution of theological transgression, or escalation of political tensions through Moriji's ever-increasing naval presence.
Numberfag Incursions
I don't know desu, but we hate numberfags so I think we'd get into trouble with them.
Hell Rodent Wars
Sudden surge in schizo events around when Mori and Mousey interacted in the Heavenly Realm, potentially involves the first interactions with the Ironmouse Prefecture.
Second Ordurial War
Another great mass schizo event that shook the nation, again due to Heavenly Realm events.
Cannibal Invasions
Following the Marine Sister event, sharp increase in Matiyotl raids in holo-nations, culminating in the beginning of the Age of the Sail in the Ailivian Ocean.
Third Ordurial War
Perhaps the greatest mass schizo event experienced by Moriji. Ended with a slow tapering off of the hostilities instead of some climactic conclusion.
Irystocrat Wars
Irystocrats are always at war with Moriji.
Party Wars
Differing interpretation of divine events caused a sudden worsening of Moriji-/ggg/ relations, resulting in a wide-scale conflict. This conflict was accompanied by a schizofication event of remarkable magnitude, who ended up fighting both nations long after the interstate war had ended.
Tempus Wars
Major war in recent history, led to many changes in the international relations between Moriji and Infinitum.

Maybe instead of a war timeline I can organize Hime Vessels by the games Luna played at the time, we could have some Rust war stuff too. I feel like it was a missed opportunity not to do anything with the Rust wars in Vitubia nora

North doesnt really have a winter as its near the equator. The middle has, according to my currently very mentally exhausted understanding a dry warm summer and a wetter mild winter. Snow unlikely but not unheard of.
The south has colder winters, and snow is more frequent, but the winters remain relatively short and mild.

Good question! I actually wrote about it a while ago!
https://rentry.org/vtwbg-vnuglore#seasons
But the gist is that /vnug/ has about 3 seasons that can be considered winter
The first season starts around the time when the fiery leaves of deciduous trees fell off. Trees become either bare or under snow-covered pale leaves, exposing mosses, lichen, and mushroom that has been hidden by the greenery in the previous bright seasons. The forest has become quiet since the majority of birds have either migrated to warmer places or begun hiding from the cold, but some of the more cold-hardy animals (including the people) continue to hunt during this season, preying upon the fattened and less active animals preparing for hibernation. This is also the time of the wet freeze as the relatively warm temperature (25~40 degrees?) and increased rainfall invites stormy days of mixed rain and snow that could easily turn many places into mud bath.
The second season covers the time around the winter solstice. This is the time when the long snowy nights fully take hold of the land. Silent woods and whitened moors dominate the landscape, and some parts of the southern coast extend into the icy ocean. Almost all animals have retreated to the warm refuge of their home or dreams, and most humans spend their short days in shelters. The ground has mostly frozen solid, allowing reindeer herds to travel between sheltered spots to dig for lichen under the snow. This also means that this can be a season of war, since the dry weather and firm ground allow larger forces to traverse the terrain, and many less acclimatized foreigners will have a hard time functioning in the dark freezing cold.
The third season is when the day begins to lengthen and the air starts to melt once more. The first migratory birds return to their homeland and their songs herald the end of the dark seasons, and people begin emerging from their shelters to replenish their supplies of lumber and food, or ward off the boredom with outdoor activities like skiing. Reindeer herders start leading their herd to the frozen highlands to continue the lichen harvest away from the coming thaw seasons and swarms of mosquitoes.

It is! Wild reindeer also migrate between winter pastures in highland and summer pastures in lowland. Still don't have the new climate at hand but based on the old map, the West would have some snow cover. The Eastern highlands, depending on the location probably has less.
Diet would change over to have a lot more canned and pickled vegetables, especially those that are sown during late summer and autumn. Urban families near waterways would get their coal stores ready, and rural farms would break out their cache of firewood. Because of forest protection laws firewood most likely wouldn't run low for most people. Failing that woolen cloaks are still pretty cheap thanks to natural pastures in the East and some irrigated pastures in the West.
People would get ready for winter solstice celebrations. Cattle from the East-West cattle drive would be slaughtered, chicken which is the most popular meat by volume of consumption would flood the market in the West. Chocolate and coffee stands would sell ginger cake. While the vendors in Eastern mining towns peddle sweet potatoes roasted on hot rocks, powered by coal mines near by.

Think it's gonna be useful for some of yous too so here we go:
A history of world agriculture
key points:
>Soil nutrients and characteristics: Plants NEED nutrients to grow, chief among them nitrogen. How to maintain the soil nutrient level while not completely exhausting it is the key. However many natural processes such as precipitation, evaporation and mineralisation can cause the nutrients to become either lost or unreachable for the crops. One should also note that unless there's outside intervention, the level of nutrients usually reaches a level of equilibrium, of how much the soil can hold under different circumstances (seasons, climate etc). The contents of the soil is also of extreme importance as it limits how much land is arable using the tools one have at their disposal. Humus content (biomass) is crucial.

>Regeneeration of soil nutrients: The process of returning the cultivated soil to its natural state, or back to a reasonably productive state for subsistence, therefore needs to reintroduce as much of the nutrients lost in the growing of the crops as possible. While it's feasible to leave the farmed parcels to the wild and let the soil regenerate its biomass (slash-and-burn agriculture), it often takes at least a decade or more for the land to become productive again, and almost 50 years for the farmed land to return to its ecological climax, thus back to its most biomass rich state, where one can extract maximum output from it again. Also note that this technique is still widely practiced today in the global south.

>Ecological crisis in the Bronze age Mediterranean: However, the extensive exploitation of woodland resources after the neolithic period caused much of the Mediterranean basin to lose its natural forests, lands are exposed and turned into shrublands. Slash-and-burn agriculture is now untenable. Now the only way for farmlands to regain their nutrients is to practice transhumance, by using herds of sheep to graze, as widely as possible, the surrounding rocky landscape surrounding the now much smaller farms, or the agri, and introduce biomass as manure by penning the herd. The ard was also introduced at this point, where it aids the breaking up of the soil, reducing the capillary action within the soil and trapping the nutrients. However, the ard cannot turn over and break up the soil sufficiently enough, where it still requires long, manual labor to hoe any weeds and to form the furrows. Agriculture with the ard requires a long fallow period, usually more than year, for the herd to naturally graze and deposit manure by penning them on the land. (depending on the crop, it can be shorter, such as a one-year system with millet) This kind of agriculture could only sustain a small population as well with a few surpluses. This system also requires slaves to produce enough surplus, in part driving the culture around slavery during this period in history (as slaves don't have families to feed). New systems like terracing and intercropping with different types of plants, for example, wheat under olive groves, were developed.

>Collapse of the Western Roman Empire and development of bi & triennial agricultural system: The villas of the Roman Empire gradually developed into the feudal holdings and manors of medieval Europe. Farmers, lacking equipment and land were given refugee from the collapsing empire, where the system of serfdom was eventually developed and entrenched. However, the adoption, beginning in the mid-10th century, of scythes, carts, stables and the multipart plow allowed farmers to work more land. The increased output of hay and extended range of meadows allow more nutrients to be added to the farmlands. Livestock stabled during the winter can continue producing manure and are ready to be applied next spring, eliminating the biggest obstacle to farming in cold temperate Europe. The plow, with metal parts and now able to truly turn over the soil can work a much larger area. (incidentally it also allowed Northern Europe with its much harder soils to expand their farmland) This allows a two-year rotation with two harvests, of winter and spring cereal. The agricultural revolution in 10th century, together with later, a new triennial rotation, allowed urban population to boom thanks to the surplus they produce (but note that most are still very small, not more than ~3-50000) Though arguably it's more important for the expansion of artisanal industries. And the adoption of the new technique is also quite slow, where some parts of Europe(South and East) only adopted it in late 19th to early 20th century.

38576796

>Premodern agricultural revolution:
The new system without fallowing, where it is replaced by a row crop such as turnips or potatoes, is enabled by the development of enclosed land and better agricultural equipment. It is first practiced in ~1600 in the low countries. Without fallowing, farmers can utilize the land to grow cover crops like vetch or oat grass. Row crops also provide additional fodder and food diversity for humans. Combined with mechanical reapers, farmers can produce much more fodder, allowing them to keep more livestock and thus more manure. This increase in fertility allows two cereal crops to be planted in succession with each other. However, the land laws entrenched during the middle ages prevents the development of this method in much of Europe, due to the recognition for fallow lands as "commons", communal grazing grounds for landless or "under" landed peasants. The politics and culture of the different nations can affect this process of enclosing the land, thus providing increased productivity and profit. For example, the enclosure in England produced many landless peasants who could only work as wage labor in cities or the now expand farms of the gentry. In France, the medium-sized farms that benefited the most from the redistribution of land during the Revolution.

>Modern agricultural revolution:
More mechanical tools, fertilizers yada yada yada, bit too far for most nations rn.

Also please note that this book has a very heavy emphasis on Temperate Europe. I found a couple more sources on Eastern agriculture but I've yet to read them. Lastly, note that I'm an idiot and have likely missed many points in this book. Though I'd say, boldly, the biggest sticking point of the entire book is "poop".If you are interested, ISBN's here: 9781844073993

ok so I have ideas but i also not want to ruin what is already established so feel free to disregard them. i understand the whole aspect of us being invader to continent from north, so i have idea to make us not greek but more slavic as people that adopted the existing 774 ways in some ways
as in the elites have mostly fully assimilated to the dominate culture that would have been 774 such as their names, titles and such. good examples of this can be seen in serbia and bulgaria in their assimilation and titles. i also think our nation is too big and too late for us
to have thematic system as it is presented because that system was no longer effective overall by 12th century real life.

it makes not so much sense to divide nation based on the chuubas into provinces, as one of points that you can see in pcg is that you have people like pippafags that are tribalist to her, while others love all gen 1 but hate gen 2, but most i think love most of the girls. their would be of course those who are near monotheist towards one person but i think it is more complex than that.

if i have suggestion, we can keep the landed elite dynatoi while removing thematic system, and replace it with something more unique. I also think that many of civil war would come from those like pippafags who are tribalist, the gen 1 tribalist and others.

In addition to catching airbubbles for oxygen, I think they could have use long hairs in order to bind to each other more efficiently and to send electrical signals to one another quickly. I really like the idea of it being able to construct a rope using this hairy ant rope to latch onto creatures that might brush past or try to run away from it like a small whale.
Also, I think in addition to the millions of ants, they could also bind each other in a kind of proto gelatinous substance made from left overs from larger animals that can also be manuvered to create channels for quicker mobility throughout the shoggoth.

I wonder if the shoggoth could propel itself through water somehow. Maybe if the ants form a water channel through the shoggoth and they all paddle in the same direction it can act as a micro-jet of sorts, then if the shoggoth has thousands or millions of those channels it can produce a measurable amount of thrust.

Propulsion seems kind of far-fetched and would probably be an unnecessary use of energy for the Shoggoth, at least in terms of transportation. I could definitely see it using water channels for predation though, in order to have quick moveing limbs and tendrils to snatch up and consume prey. It's like vnug says, it'd probably rely on coasting along waves and grabbing up bits of plant and sea life from underwater tendrils until it finds larger prey.
>>38605289
>>38605586
I think it floating on the waves without actively searching for food could actually serve it pretty well, to the vast majority of animals it just looks like free food and it could potentially have a large diet of birds. Even in the situations where it goes without food for a prolonged amount of time, it can always consume a bit of its own mass or eat some of that protoplasm, basically the same thing.

>> No.38605997

True but that seems too situational to be relevant most of the time. Paddling should also be an option. I know technically that's what the jets do. But I'm thinking all the ants can paddle at once to produce some locomotion with the tentacle for more mechanical movement.

>>38605956
Moving in water is pneumatics. Water will always flow into areas where there's the least pressure. All the ants have to do is move water in a way that water pressure needs to flow just right it moves the colony forward. Paddling also works similarily. Though creating a pump is also viable.

>> No.38607438

Shit eagle home would be everywhere moon man, but probably concentrated mostly south since that's their original home. You'd get rid of all other birds in the pisslands and replace them with a more aggressive and harder to kill Scatgul, everyone else would be getting shit but you'd be getting more shit per shit since the population is already focused on the ringo lands.
>>38606857
So an internal pump system? How powerful would this need to be since the Shoggoth itself wasn't particularly meant to be a very complex organism and can't be expected to do more than simple behaviors. It's still a bunch of ants, their pump needs to be easily created and maneuverable to accommodate its ever shifting form.

>> No.38607521

>> No.38607869

>>38607438
Its not an internal pump system in a way we think for an animal. The ants don't drink water. Instead its a mechanical pump where ants with some sort of waterproof seal around them squeeze and pull each other like a giant muscle made out of ants. The pump works like a real pump, which is a pressurized chamber that moves to change pressure to move fluid whether it be water or air.

>> No.38608205

>>38607438
If built right pumps are very energy efficient. Your heart and diaphragm are pumps. They're pretty efficient. It'll take coordination but pumps are doable.

That said drifting and mechanical locomotion would be more useful for floating. Pumps are used to drain excess water in the colony. I'd imagine the colony floats the way a boat does with its surface area. That's why steel hull boats can float.

I think if the hair specialization thing is take to its absolute limits, it could be used to create a pump type organ but it is like you say, the energy usage probably isn't justified except for hunting and even then it probably wouldn't be able to do that for very long. It could potentially have these organs if it grew very large and this type of energy is an acceptable investment but the majority of shoggoths probably wouldn't use a pump organ, they would use heat organs, tendrils, and the like. What other ant pseudo-organs would help it out?

The water has salt. So it depends on if the ants are adapted to drink salt water.

>>38608608
I think for hunting its easier for the ants to create a larger tentacle to grab its prey faster than it can swim. And the tentacle doesn't even have to stay attached. The ants will break off and sting the prey to death. Then they'll form a raft as the main colony creates a rope to pull the prey back in. That said I think the ant's primary form of food will be sweet kelp and algae. And when they reach a beach they'll anchor and search for food like normal ants.

>> No.38609203

>>38608935
I think the tentacle thing is actually partially mentioned in the main article but I also think that its primary form of hunting would just be stealthily doing absolutely nothing and letting fish come up to it thinking that its lots and lots of food. The Shoggoth does not look like a predator and a school of fish would most likely swim right into it before getting torn apart.

>> No.38609544

>>38609203
They can also bait fish with algae and kelp scraps along with krill, shrimp, and crabs pieces. Colonies can also bait whales if they want to. Fishing would be the ideal way of obtaining food at sea. That said I think Shoggoth colonies will love beaches as fruits and vegetables still have nutrients the colony can't get at sea.

This is just my opinion of the matter.

>> No.38610090

>>38609544
Definitely with the crabs and kelp, I think baiting live whales might be a little too dangerous though since whales might just eat them the same way they would eat a bunch of krill. Whale falls and decaying whales would be amazing catches that could feed the colony for months.

Need more monkey lore. Where are all the monkeys of Vitubia?

>>38588610
The Shoggoth could produce that gelatinous substance by itself, no need for it to be leftovers necessarily.
Also, you could have different types of ants forming different parts of the creature. You could, for example, have specific types of ants that grow a lot of those hairs they use to trap air and thus provide oxygen for the colony. These air carrier ants would probably be relatively cumbersome and thus unfit for tasks that require fast movement or the ability to dive. Imagine them as the honeypot ant but instead of sugary liquid, they store oxygen for the colony's underwater parts. This would also possibly free up some ants to become less hairy, and thus smaller, and arguably more agile.

Just do what the ants do. "Organs" can emerge from the very simple instructions on how a mass of ants work. I dont think having specialized forms of ants, like how real ant colonies have with workers and warriors and others, would use that much energy. In fact, I think it may be more energy efficient than just having a bunch of generally un-specialized ants.

divinations are the common way to connect to the heavenly realm iirc. New deities are essentially deified when they start streaming on the usual platforms(those listed in >>1). But of course having the status of a god doesn't mean you are powerful. And chuubanite only forms when there are threads and splits that talk about the chuubas, since if not, there will be no chuuba related concepts. Since /hag/ religion has more of an umbrella pantheon with god from all over it really depends on how people in /hag/ decide whether a god is in their pantheon. If she meets the criterias of a hag then she will be considered a hag.

With respect to Megas, I am siding with my new writer here and all of that which he wrote about in referenced material is non-canon as it was never run by me before he wrote it, he never asked anyone else about it that is involved in this piece, and I have made it clear that I am not going for this "advanced" tech stuff he wants. I also want to say that while I am very considered to other writers, I expect the same towards those I work with and the truth is I am the one who can mediate the discrepancies here. You may not like it, but that is how it will be done.

It was good timing then! About canonizing lore, my duty as the pcg rep extends to all lore for pcg and whether or not it is canon, and to mediate discrepancies. The thread also has a say but I think I am being fair here considering it was not even under pcg lore but pcclg lore.

This is a problem because Megas came before you did, and still is the pcg rep by all accounts and reasons. It's disrespectful to him to push him aside like you have and even if you are the pcg rep, you need to find middle ground here imo.

I am not going to get into a discussion about semantics about who is the real rep considering I have voted and made my voice known for months now without this being an issue. I cast doubt on your intentions based on that, and that no one seemed to really care about what megas wrote until our new writer came along and published something that really isn't too related to what he wrote. In my opinion, you are just trying to cause issues for my new friend unjustly, probably as a troll.

To my new friend, please remember that if someone is trying to tell you that you did something wrong canonically with pcg lore, and they aren't me, that you should wait to hear what I say. I am not here all the time, but I try to at least lurk to answer questions.

Not that anon but let's not accuse each other of being a troll first. Also slight correction on reps, now instead of going with a single arbitrator of lore, meditators moreso should try to resolve any differences in lore. (https://rentry.org/vtwbg-intro#the-explanation-of-mediators-and-representatives-for-threads)) Though I doubt anyone would object your current role as the meditator-cum-rep of /pcg/ not least due to Mega's absence.
So while I agree that you should try to resolve the conflict with what the new anon has written with mega's work I don't really mind things that directly contravene with the phase war being scraped.

Let's not think of it as completely scrapping the whole thing. Rewriting some of the relevant lore by Megas into a more accessible rentry does sound like a good idea. Also let's not pile on Megas, or anyone else for that matter when they aren't here to defend themselves.
/pcg/'s lore can do with some organizing in anticipation to properly write the phase war and this could be a good opportunity.

PP, lore isn't a story. Lore is supposed to be something that can be read and understood in an objective sense. That's the entire point of writing lore in a way that other people can interact with.
I didn't pay much attention the whole kerfuffle about whether or not it was canon in the beginning but you need to draw a line in terms of how much is what it it's purely canonical.

he never said non-canon, when people were giving critique about the numbers in one battle which made it feel biased and a bit immersive breaking to some, he went and explained that this is suppsed to be a saga written with bias in it intended and not 100% accurate to the events as they have truly unfolded, which was something the thread was not used to at the time and wasn't made very clear to readers except for like one statement very early on that people underestiamted the impact of.

It is a Story, not Lore. Stories can have unreliable narrators as much as it wants, Lore is what should be accurate and unbiased because that is what depicts things of a nation that others also work with.

There's a difference between a lie intended to actively spread misinformation and a miscommunication based off of false information, I already don't see a story as canon without supporting lore because of a variety of reasons but a story that specifically has intended bias shouldn't be considered canonical lore because it does not provide an objective account.
If you said that its a biased account and not entirely accurate than it's very reasonable to assume that it's also not strictly canonical especially given that stories have not been substituted for lore thus far. You're making it out to seem as though this was a random lie spread with harmful intent instead of an assumption based off previous statements.
The mention of retro does nothing in this discussion accept provide an aim for schizophrenics to intrude upon.

>how did you like what i wrote?
It was very well done. Well organized, integrated existing lore as well and gave plenty of use for future lore. My recommendation, as you have stated already, is to build upon it. It does a great job now.

>second, if you understand how realistic is the national strategy and army size? ??
Numbers really do not matter too much and Phase is huge, so that was reasonable to me personally. I need clarification on the national strategy, having defense in depth like you suggested may be impossible but there are many factors that aren't free for me to know personally.

>third, if you know what the full picture is, put yourself as the Grand Domestic of Schools and tell me what you do to fix the problems our army has or if it is possible ???
This might be the most interesting question I have got in a long time.

If I were Demetrius Konstantinovich Tzipoureles, I wouldn't have all of the information that we the reader have. But I would perhaps have more in some areas such as finance. If I am being realistic, I would abandon the defense in depth concept and merely focus on strongpoint defense. The terrain in the region favors the defender and operating with interior supply lines is always easier. In event of a war against /vsj/, you would naturally hope 2434 would supply you but in case that does not happy, the strategy is to defend at key points and allow them to overextend themselves. Wear them down.

Now to the actual problems, there are likely so many that it would be overwelhming. Not only do you have the big external threat from the east, but your nation is crippled by the eastern empire and you have to deal with constant problems in the north. Risks need to be taken, but I am a risktaker so the natural idea would be for me to "pacify" the north in some way by launching a punitive raid, even if the CIO didn't like it. It could back fire, but hindsight is 20/20 and the position you are in is unenviable. I assume there would be consequences, but if anything you have just stopped a ulcer for some time so the next solution is simply working within your means to improve the quality of your army somehow. Get new drill instructors. Get better muskets. Get better cannons. Etc.

Overall, things are nigh impossible to be fixed in the status quo.

>1. In such situation, how would commander motivate their troops ??? it would seem like nation is a rotten mess !!! I mention that young commanders are ready to lead to future but what do you think that means???
Depends on how your nation as a whole is feeling at the time. A "Spirit" of a nation at a moment can lead to victory or defeat. A nation that is "depressed" is not going to recover per se without finding resolve. This sounds like pseudoscience perhaps, but I do think things such as "National Moods" exist. But answer the question, to motivate your soldiers:
1. Make sure they are paid and feed.
2. Give them a cause to fight for.
3. Having a naturally gifted speaker is always a good thing.

But its more complex that these obvious things and many things can be out of a commanders control, such as the aforementioned national mood. Professional Soldiers won't and absolutely should not have problems as long as you feed and pay them. But the conscripts are different, 2 in particular is meaningful to them. For the young commanders, they will want to embrace the patriotic sentiment that could come in the future and use it to inspire their conscripts to do things that are impossible seemingly, (which should answer 3. That's the secret.) Other factors can be down to discipline, disease, and weather even. In the end, feeding men, keeping them clothed, funded and giving them a purpose to die for means about everything.

>2. do you have any real life ideas to model reforms after for the army ???
Good question, look at Rev. France, Prussia Post-1806, and Russia during this period. Heck, study the napoleonic wars in general from all nations. It will be really helpful to you.
>3. how do you fight back against the CIO ???
As stated, patriotic sentiment. The CIO will slip up at some point and when the kettle boils over, there is little that can stop liberation, though it will be bloody. I don't have the exact details but that is the best bet.

Thank you, I love to talk with you about this.
