This. I've already seen the effects of nijis being the icon of successful male vtubers. There's small corpo boys already trying to copy what Vox does without realizing that it would work better if they didn't flirt with or talk to other females. Nobody even knows there's any demand for a male vtuber who doesn't interact with women because none of the female CBDCT-wanters have ever made their wishes known. Whenever I see a Star dragged into a collab I'll see some quiet seething here but nothing else happens. Just look at Gabe- even though he's a deranged schizo and 99.9% of people shit on him his actions were enough to stop the collabs for several months (for now at least). Now, you don't have to embarrass yourself to the extent of someone Gabe. Someone like Vesper seems like he's a pushover and is susceptible to whatever his audience wants so just subtly hint that you like his content with the boys or whatever in a similar way they got him to stop talking about Council in that comment section. Until these demands and the corresponding culture is built up there is no disincentive for male vtubers to collab with female ones, either by attaching themselves to more popular female streamers or because they enjoy their presence, and the only unicorn-friendly male vtubers are going to be coincidental (because they're really unpopular and stream alone or some similar reason)

It's just not the same. I mean I never streamed before but I taught a ton of virtual and in-person lectures, it's much harder to make a real connection with a bunch of names on a zoom or Blackboard room with muted mics who occasionally chat text bubbles than it is when you actually see the students in-person, reacting to what you're saying through their body language and really interacting with you with speech. It's why I was one of those few who were really happy to go back to in-person work, I was miserable and bored out of my mind most of the time during the virtual semesters.

I'd imagine this phenomenon is at least part of the reason why some vtubers keep unwittingly angering their fans; when they're essentially just names in a text box it's really, really easy to forget they're real people with real feelings vs. something akin to an online AI chatbot. More than once during my lectures I genuinely felt like I was the only real person in the room and was just teaching myself for 9 hours every week, only broken up by the few occasions my curriculum allowed me to do something flashy and cool and the students showed their appreciation.
