Thought about some kind of specbio plant that's most noted for its berries, but the leaves also have uses after fermenting and drying as tea. But I don't know enough about biochemistry to properly do it realistically. Guess I'll just handwave most of the chemistry like some other stuff I did.

>>41398190
Ah right sapling what's your opinion on a wendigo-like (only the appearance are exactly like it, behaviors are more like actual animals) monster originating from /uuu/? Also did you see that climate map nasfaqroine made for the North West?

We (yes >we) likely don't have tea, I mean, maybe berry teas and herbal analogs, but tea isn't something we have in our climate, tea plantations also require a lot mantainance, we don't have the climate for tea growth, and in the case of /uuu/, there's probably not the organization to promote it as an industry. Maybe the highlands could grow tea. The producing nations of tea would be spread around the globe.
This whole lack of tea that europe had (which is the most similar to ours) is in fact what caused the Opium wars.

you can make teas from plants that grow in just about any climate; that aside, the fact that plants can grow outside of their regular climate was discussed ages ago when the affinity of /uuu/'s chuubanite was established.

we dont need plantations for any of the things we grow, see the points above as to why; we dont need industry and we dont grow things specifically for the purpose of export

We can always specbio some kind of tea like plant. At least something that has certain psychoactive substance. My headcanon is that due to /uuu/ chuubanite makes the forests in /uuu/ sort of like a rainforest, where things grow super fast and also has the biodiversity of a rainforest. So it makes sense for plants to develop caffeine-like or caffeine-related chemicals to ward off unwanted frugivory behaviors.

I think a big pro for worldbuilding is that it lets you write different societies and inter-societal tension with just interior lore, which is fun.

>> No.41426049

>>41422154
i think a nation should be unified by a shared culture, meaning it's actually somewhat difficult to write good sub-groups for a nation. if it has a foundational mythology, you have to look at different ways that mythology can be interpreted to figure out how each region should differ.

You can have many distinct cultures in one nation pretty easily. In fact, I think it's impossible to avoid, just because of variations in climates, industries, food sources, presence of rivers, age of the settlement, all those things shape the local culture. You can draw from those things to draw interior borders. Though using interpretations of founding myths is a fun way to do it too.
But, case in point, while Bretons and Parisians are both distinctly French, they are also two very different cultures.

bretons and parisians have different cultural identities and backgrounds. one is celtic, the other is latin. they unite under a single flag not out of culture but out of politics. the british and french monarchs

NTA. Basically, a nation is a made up construct, it doesn't necessarily have to be based off of culture, but it often is. It could be based off other societal factors, such as history, or political opportunism, the main point of a nation is that it is a collective identity that a group decides upon, and in the case of the bretons, it is a collective identity that was forced upon them after the french revolution.

>> No.41430004

>>41429489
>a nation is a made up construct
so constructionism? nations don't exist materially, but that doesn't mean they don't exist at all. shared history leads to shared cultural more often than not. when it doesn't, the system soon collapses. a collective identity is the fruits of that shared culture, and proof of their cultural union, and when cultures separate, so do nations. when a collective identity is forced upon you, the result is one of two options. assimilation which leads to synergism, or oppression, which can be functional in the short term, and over an isolated region, but becomes more parasitic the larger, and therefore more clumsy the coordination process is, therefore tending towards societal collapse.
basically, if the bretons and the parisians have a shared identity, they have shared culture, the question is whether that culture is synergistic, or parasitic, one way of figuring that out is to look at the relations between these two groups, unfortunately, this enters social-science territory, so all of the data on the matter is most likely bullshit, not that all social-science is bullshit, usually, lol.

I haven't either, but most of France, me included, hates those shitheads from Paris. Nations are more or less a constructed concept overall, in my opinion. The concept of a nation state is so flawed as there are hardly any states that can truly call themselves nation states. For example, some might think France is a nation state when it is far from it. Same with Italy too, shockingly to many.

But I will leave it at that, as an Occitan who doesn't want to break up France into smaller pieces despite my hatred of Parisians.

>some prominent stories
Uhhh, ahaha...yea, those are a thing... iirc, there is a mention of her in one of the /nesa-meat/ stories, the canon of which is still debatable, and in the last /nasa/ story entry. Tho those are two representations of her in vastly different circumstances and periods in her life, with one showing her when she was still an all powerful admin on the station, while the other showing her centuries later, after Sana's boon has well and truly made her more "human" and she has experienced a myriad of different cultures and people.

As for that first impulse, kek we both had the same idea. I actually planned for the story that I am writing her in(the epilogue to /nasa/, the centuries later story mentioned above) to have a mention of /wg/, where she would first gain knowledge that would set her on the path to finding >us. So locking herself in one of your libraries and absorbing every single letter in every single book would definitely be something she would do, tho she would also love to interact with the people writing those books. Pursuit of knowledge and information is the main objective for her, doesn't matter how she has to go about it.

i've been lurking for about a month in this thread and... I want to write for /jidf/. i got a lot of experience with worldbuilding things outside of /here/ so i know a lot of the things, it's a passion of mine and i really love a lot of the lore here!

I want to get started but there's something holding me back. All the drama, all the accusations, all the hatred, the lack of love and respect for others, and the lack of fun, and joking around... Being familiar with worldbuilding, those things are what have ruined many projects in the past and im not sure i want to experience that again. I really do want to be part of this. I love the concept and I love a lot of the lore, but i still have my concerns... An example of this is the divegrass outrage from yesterday, over max headroom. maybe i shouldn't have but I voted for him because in the /vtwbg/ timeline, he is the first person listed and I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to the 80s so i thought it would be cool. You can't really have a large collaboration on a website like this without an occasional spout without turning it into a giant hug box where nobody is able to be heard and the expectation is to trust everyone blindly and not day what you're thinking. People that say to trust them unconditionally and to take their every word honestly have an enormous tendency to fling it back in your face in a two faced way, you can try to think of ways to get around it but just saying, "Hey can you stop talking about that" clearly isn't and hasn't worked before.

This place has become needlessly toxic and even if some might feel the need to falseflag, we should instead look at what issues have it ever let it become a place that would require that

Too many people have needlessly been under fire for stupid things like tech or vassal stuff or otger lore stuff that never should have gotten to be such issues. Same with when we said people shouldb't write for unrepped nations, that has gotten too rigid and never was neant anything at all. People also have ti stop looking at things from half a year ago and stop judging them for errors they did back then. Oretty much all have messed up one way or the other.

Before we lay blame to people for our own fears and potential worst interpretation of things, we should instead have at least some trust in people, even if it might be at times hard for your own bad mental space, and rather look what issues even might cause such things or else we will always have a rift between people and hurt others we never meant any ill will towards

The fact that my name alone has become a meme in a way about how overused "blame yellow woman" is. The fact that anyone that I am friendly with immediately is suspect for any evil in this thread.

What am I supposed to do? It's all worthless at this point because every single detail is now under a microscope looking for evidence to convict someone of a crime, mostly me? It's a lose-lose situation for me all the time, and I have felt this way really since the beginning if I am honest. I am not bringing up past wounds either as much as it is the truth.

The reality is that you and some others have repeated done this to other anons for little reason other that "the dignity of the thread.", caused major issues over it that have resulted in nothing good, and then have the gall to sit here as if you aren't the problem. I will state what I observe. Someone who has no respect for anyone but his buddies who has repeatedly caused issues for this project because of his own insecurities. Remember questions anon? That was you. Remember how KR and the Warkop rep were treated when they voted that one time and all of you jumped them? I sure do. Remember how your buddies put Z on trial for #justiceforretro and treated him like shit for months afterwards.

You want to talk about real issues? Why don't you start actually owning up to all the harm you guys have repeatedly caused for the sake of your own selfish desires. Yet you will stand here convinced that:

"I did nothing wrong, it's all on her for not admitting something that is clearly true." Except it isn't and you once again have blood on your hands. You are a disgrace.

Proposing this as part of the voting reform. Regional voting, for now, it would look like this:

neutral: nasfaq, meat, wg
niji: nijimales, 2434, ap global (only ones active)
east holo: morig, ppt, and luna/kfp
West holo: hoshi, who uuu
North Ind: vrt, rumina, ???
south indie: voms, pcg, 774
north id risu mep moon
south id mhm v7 ehe
Fetish: hag uoh.

Furthermore, regional border changes should be only the concern of regional reps unless it is ridiculous or it is disagreed on. Also there should be a by-law to increase the regions so that we don't have one area with 10 people.

>> No.41451921

>>41451745
as part of this i would also like to propose to have 6/9 votes needed for something to go through because a change should be accepted by most.

also if in the future we split regions due to mass of writers, i propose to consider 2 splits at once, prefereable of groups with different opinions as to keep a certain balance of opinions.

this also should consider writer for the region overall, not jsut who are currently reps for voting by the current system, so that even in natiosn with liek 3 writers, all have a fair input for their region but fo course they should also fairly accept that 3 writers of one nation and 2 writer for 2 other nantions should find a balance and agreement between each other.

discussions of how to vote for thigns should preferably be held here so that people can see that an agreement has been found

sorry but we are sadly already way past this point, this mentality is already real and if nothing more, this is meant to decrease it by making a clear limit foor votes as of know with, hopefully, a bit more blaanced view of opinion so that no one feels like others are creating a voting block to screw with stuff. the fact that if we decide to split things for more groups that we can also have a split elsewhere to keep a certain balance of opinion hopefully makes many less worried in regards to voting, add too that a higher requirement than just half too get a consens on a change so that thigns change for the good of thread. This also removes voting completly from beign a writer and is hopefully the first step for a reform to lead to more space on how to write for places etc.

and lastly a new system, as arbitrary as it might seem a bit, hopefully also comes with a fresh view and take on it and might break some shackles of old views that are strongly in place for some.

>zoning arguments for new threads.
it should not. if someone wannts to place themselves super weirdly like a new niji thread for some reasonn wanting next to me, then they should bring their reason. and if there is no reason then it comes to a vote as always anyway. if anything this might streamline the process because a new nation being palced should be a regional issue first and foremost anyway and would for example for rumina anon streamlined this A LOT

Randomize the groups before each vote. There, us VS them mentality gone. We got an entire week before the vote, so that cycle's voteanon would collect all those who are willing to vote before Friday comes(just a reply to the vote anchor is enough) and pass them through random.org to make groups. Does it? Or rather, wasn’t this already a component of the old system? Reps should be gathering the views of their fellow posters here and merely present the ballot of combined opinion. Their only power was supposed to be ceremonial from what I understood. Though the line became blurred a bit with so many reps being the only regular for their thread. I suppose the regional system will encourage more discussion between voters generally though. I can see its merits, so hopefully we don’t end up replacing the fixed issues with new ones like gerrymandering.
>zoning
I suppose what put the thought in my head was the use of the corpo names for regions instead of more neutral in-universe ones. Are the continents even named yet? Because so long as we think of it as the “holo continent”, there will be arguments over putting nonholo threads there and holo threads elsewhere.

So the average day in this thread. You're also missing the part where the anons who wanted to vote would know what they are getting themselves into as they would first have to apply for the vote themselves. Come in prepared for the worst while hoping for the best kind of deal.
Like let's say for example me, OG and Emma were randomized in a group. We don't hold similar opinions on basically anything, but we can still hold a discussion. It might devolve into a slav VS brit situation, but so what? If we can't agree on it, we don't vote that cycle. I actually had that same idea myself but the issue is when people aren't for example able to react in time and thus not able to vote jsut because life sucked for a week.

The other issue would be as already pointed out if groups get put together that will smash heads in a really bad way or worse, people get put together that really wouldn't mix well. I can already see the issue that would arise from /hag/ and /meat/ in one group...

lastly, depending on how the random groups come out, it can feel very lopsided and i rathe rnot have a decision thats really important for once come down to "luck" of who get in with who in a group

so i think having preordained groups that take some of this in mind while at least improving some of the current issues is overall better

another issue is that the randomized vote wouldn't really adress the falseflagger problem at all. The more "personas" someone has, the more chances they have to get a group to themselves or be able to influence several random groups to a large enough degree. With the preordained groups you would have to both pretend to be several people for several groups for several different threads and at that point it will become way harder to pull it off and also more of a hassle than its really worth.

>react in time
A vote missed is a vote missed. Honestly with how little votes we have had lately, could even extend the voting cycle to two weeks. And if anything comes up after they already got put in the pool for the groups and will be missing the entire weekend, they can reply to the vote anchor to be removed. If the voting period already started, they can discuss it with their group regarding on how their absence should be handled, preferably giving a few points on their opinion on the matter, which would be taken into account before bouncing.
>smash heads in a really bad way or worse, people get put together that really wouldn't mix well.
This I think would be the best thing to come out of this, desu. PUTTING ANONS IN A SITUATION WHERE COMMUNICATION HAS TO BE IMPROVED. let's take meatanons and hagbro(he gone btw?) as an example. Both would have to learn to listen to one another and present their ideas in a way that would not cause needless conflict.
Again, here I need to reiterate that the decision to vote is in their hands alone, so if they don't feel like they can handle the discussion, no matter which anon might be against them, they simply don't have to apply. Weighing the importance of having your voice be heard despite the path to it being thorny and tough. Not voting is easy, voting is not. But only one makes a tangible difference.
>depending on how the random groups come out
I don't really see how this would be a problem. If people with strong opinions on the topic clash when put in a single group while all the rest mostly agree on one notion, thus making their discussion quick and easy, then that's good, isn't it? And if 2-3 anons with strong opinions each get put in their own group, where you would image they would dominate the discussion, they still need to convince the other people of their right.

>> No.41456244

I don't see why we should ever apologize to someone who was clearly falseflagging.

>> No.41456635

>>41455860
Alright, so let's say the groups are between 3-5 depending on the size of the vote. For a group to cast a vote, they would need to unanimously agree on it, not just a majority. And to solve the problem of falseflagger getting in an intentionally messing with groups using that rule, additional checks would be put into place. If they refuse to interact with their group, they are effectively throw out and their agreement does not matter(here I should mention that this would be for anons that join in the group, and then make no posts whatsoever before the question of "so we agree on voting for x on y?" comes up) and the group should, between themselves make regular checks on whether the anons are on the same page(just a simple "alright, day's done, how we feeling on the vote so far, y or n?" nothing fancy) and if an anon changes their vote without elaborating when it comes to the actual casting of the ballot when their opinion on the matter has been the complete opposite throughout the discussion, the same would happen, as they are assumed to be a falseflagger intent on destroying the vote.
I really should get out of bed, writing this on my phone is fucking hard...

I will never vote in favor of “lottery groups” because the only benefits that come from them are vastly outweighed by the flaws.
>voting is a serious matter and placing anons randomly into groups can make a vote controversial based on that. One group could have two guys that dont care and another two guys that never agree. A vote could get passed that we dont want because of this dynamic
>Groups exist. The acknowledgment of them should be a reality. Most regional reps work together already
>Extending the voting process is hardly nesssiary for most things and for important things, we already extend it
>You can easily get dynamics where one “side” gets favored by the rng so much that the other side will cry foul.
>frankly, i dont want to waste my time explaining why i think its ok for a nation to get placed on the map or have a by law worded differently

Guys, you do realize that you’ll still need to discuss things and come to an agreement even if the groups aren’t randomized, right? These are two separate issues, and if you don’t want to have to engage in debate to have your voice heard then you should be advocating against the regional system altogether, not just the random groupings.

So have the random draws be done in public view for all to see? Just make a post on a board that allows dice rolls or find some site where you can post a room code in thread and have everyone join in to draw lots or something. I write for a Nijisanji thread and I will write as such for the company I love and all of the goofy things we do.

Second, I will work on the Heishin war with my friend from nijimales because we love the idea and the lore potential.

Third and finally, I will be kind and gracious to all people, newfriends included. I do not care about my reputation, or what is thought. I only want to have fun and see others have fun. I will not be discussing anything drama related or rrats about me, thats below me.

God bless and see you on the bright side!!!!!!!!!! Any questions???

Ignoring the shitstorm that happened while I was away, here are my answers to your questions.

>1. I see that each theocracy represents an aspect of /meat/’s inception, but where would /jerky/ chuubas go? Atoyavik?
Yes. Atoyavik represents corpo discussions so any corpo affiliated edgy-chuubas like Lia goes there.

>2. You obviously took the various Realm Ministers from my story but you missed one, the Rikitlaeknir.
Ah right. So in the KTF lore doc https://rentry.org/meat-KTF you mentioned the Ministry of Battle.
In the list of ministers, there were no Minister of Battle. I was able to figure out the meanings of each role through nahuatl translation.
Temachtiani = teacher
Pochteca = merchant/spy
Tlalchiuhqui = farmer
But none of them were soldier/general etc
So it feels odd that the Ministry of battle was not in the list of mentioned ministers. So I thought of substituting the Rikitlaeknir with the missing minister of battle. If you want me to rewind this revision sure I don't mind.

>3. Does specialization imply each clergy state is only allowed to do only their speciality? No farms in Ryonaheim, no workshops and training in Matiriki etc? That sounds terribly close to the world in Hunger Games and thats horrible for society
Luckily NO. The specialisations are only for the institutions themselves. Ryonaheim and Atoyavik CAN have farms and magical academies even if they are not their specialties. But if they wish to do any big projects, the respective institutions will be brought in.
For example, Matiriki managed to discover a new way of utilising chuubanite in building construction, the KTF centred in Nacatlah will be brought in to handle this research and further improve it and/or distribute it across the realm.
Nacatlan wishes to improve its rice and coffee hill farms, Matiriki agricultural experts are brought in to help with the project.
Among others. So no crippling overspecialisation. Each state is allowed to pursue every sector. But the realm wide institutions and their duties are in each other's borders. So the KTF will not be allowed to use Atoyavik and Matiriki resources for magic research without their agreement.

Pretty good for a first time writing with an unknown character. Not quite as I would have written her dialogue, but that mainly comes to me delegating a lot of the scene to describing character movement and expression. Oh and a few more things, while I'm at it: as the other Hoo said, she wouldn't really be showing herself that openly, at the very least she would wear your clothing to blend in better. And her body, despite the example given in the character sheet, which was made only because degenerates wanted to know if she has tits and ass, is remarkably human-like. You would be able to tell if you looked at her for a bit, but I don't think they'd be able to spot the difference from afar, specially if she was covered up. Tho that isn't really all that important desu, maybe I need to go back and write some more detail on her appearance, I was kinda quick on that part. And lastly, she didn't build her body days before the end, but in the decade after, while fixing the station. This is the only one where I would actually insist on correcting the mention, gotta keep it consistent ya know. Pretty sure I mentioned that in the sheet as well, otherwise I do apologize, I'll need to correct that.

Overall, fun story, you did a good job with her!
