I finally found one of my OP pictures edition

>What is /asp/?
/asp/ is a thread for vtubers to give and recieve advice related to vtubing

>Can i self post?
Self posting is allowed as long as it's for asking for feedback or starting out, there are other threads for self promotion

>Should i stream on Twitch or YouTube?
Most people would recommend against streaming on YouTube if you don't have an established subscriber base from making videos

>Is there an audience for X
Would you watch someone do X?
Is someone already doing X?

Manhera Monday
I've cultivated an audience of people who only really stick around for my zatsu but the moment I play a game, I lose everyone. Last night I had ~50CCV for being an idiot online but the moment I switched to a game, my CCV dropped to 9. This has been consistent for like 2 months now. Should I just give up playing games on stream and just be mentally ill on the internet? It's not like I act any different when I play a game. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

>> No.42045948

I do miss some things on streamlabs but you won't regret switching to obs-studio, considering they work on the same base anyways, streamFX might work in streamlabs, but you'll have to try that yourself. Personally i think obs-studio is just the better software, even if you don't care about the fact that all streamlabs did was take the obs source code, slap their own name (and some of their features) on top of it and monetize it. (at least their premium features).

I didn't think I'd find someone who used livestream from all the way back, i remember trying to run my stream back then with my old modem on 500kbits upload. Good times (actually bad times, streaming sucked if you were poor back then).

It's bothered me that they introduced all their premium features for free and then took it all away, so at this point if you're using the free version I feel like I might as well be using OBS itself since they don't really add anything.

>I didn't think I'd find someone who used livestream from all the way back
I used to be a tripfag on /tg/ when I was underage b& and didn't continue with it because why the fuck would streaming video games make anybody money? It was such a foreign concept to me. RIP 30-50 viewer streams every day for x-com of all things.

The old days were wild man, I fell in with a group of people that streamed TV shows/movies/games and there was like 20-30 people with access to the channel and someone was always streaming something.

Voice reps, do them religiously and develop your muscle memory.
To eliminate nasality, either you drop down your pitch and completely use chest resonance to speak (it would sound more masculine but it's a lazy way of speaking),
or if you want to use your head voice without sounding nasal, a tip that worked for me is to imagine pushing a little bit of air from your throat whenever you're speaking.

Here's the thing Anon. You have the audience you decide to cultivate.

If you never play bideo james, you'll never have the audience that comes for video games. If you don't Zatsu, most likely you won't have people that stick around for Zatsu.

One of the traps people fall into is being an "x-streamer". Someone I used to follow basically became "The XCOM Streamer" and when he branched out to other games nobody really watched.

Which sucks, because if you're chasing The Algorithm it'll look like your stream is dying, but you have to lay the groundwork to be a variety streamer.

I'm also on the design phase and the way I weave in my theme is "What does my chuuba do for a living?"
I assume you're focusing on "who you are" (e.g. demon, vampire, catboy) and that might feel a bit generic, but adding a layer of profession would balance that out.

Maybe something to do with your interests--tastes in fashion, your personality type (sporty, tired all of the time, etc) or what you do for a living (or whatever your chuuba does).

I think the most effective designs are when you can single out the themes after glancing over them.

I've tinkered with the idea of streaming, though my thoughts on it are not really Vtuber-ish. It of course involves an image to represent a character that I would act into, the gimmick being of course that whatever role I am taking is the draw. My first idea was to be some hapless engineer in a derelict station real far out in space whose only bid for entertainment is the somehow perfect transmission to Earth which is unquestioned and accepted as just "miraculous". The idea is that I would be introduced to Earth "culture" through chat and take EVERYTHING at face value, so if a chatter claimed that saying "parsnips" was the new "rad", I'd just say parsnips from then on to "fit in with the cool kids".

imo the design should heavily lean into the personality since it serves as a thumbnail, (e.g. someone clicking because the model looked lewd will expect the vtuber to be lewd). A good example of an aspie that does this concept is Bloom, he sings a lot, so he's dressed like a Barbershop Quartet member, someone into singing will randomly see him and think "Oh, i like singing, i should check this guy out". Of course, you don't absolutely need to do this to succeed, I've never seen Hes do anything related to greek mythology, yet she's one of the better performing aspies

I don't know which streamer was first to get hit with them, I just know the meaning behind them. The idea is that when a streamer makes an attempt at humor or does something in particular the chat can spam "+/-2" to signify whether they think it is funny or not. Though the use in of itself is a joke, with chatters sometimes spamming random numbers or posting it at abnormal times just to poke at the streamer for a response (more interactivity and engagement). I personally heard/seen it with Jerma, and his responses to it I believe make chat happier since he gives a performance of sorts or joking retaliation.

Do you want a full coomer design but mostly be wholesome and don't really focus on it? Do you want to do ring fit streams where your tits bounce up and down for hours? There's a million ways to make it work, you just have to feel out what works for you. You also have to keep in mind what kind of audience you want to attract. i think everyone needs breaks once in a while. streamers are selfish in the way that they do long hours every day and its fucking rough to follow if your life isn't centered around that. its also really hard to take the breaks you need if you grow too attached to the streamer and its super easy to fall in that trap with the type of streamer we have here

Live2D is not generally the best place for a bunch of effects. Good riggers will be able to some things pull off, but expect the price to be real high in that part.
If you want something like a full on particle system or very randomized stuff that goes along with every movement, don't.

I find it's something that you need to condition yourself for. When I started streaming I had a hard time streaming and talking for even 2 hours in a row more than a couple times a week. Nowadays I can stream a good 25 hours a week with no break days without a problem. I wouldn't push it though, if you are feeling pain take a break.

I think streamers can link to pretty much anything they want as long as it isn't explicit porn or some phishing website or something. Might get into trouble for linking to obviously illegal torrenting websites but even that you could probably get away with if you rarely did it and nobody complains about it.

That yes, is very doable. You do need to check how your rigger is gonna do the loops, because if it's gonna be a big chunk of the character, some will do somethin that looks "good enough" and some will take the time to make sure all the angles have the right animation. It's hard to tell the difference without seeing it, or without me ranting about the technical know-how of what exactly I am talking about.

So I was talking with a couple of people yesterday, and they said I should try VTubing. My biggest problem I’d say is that I have horrible Internet connection- and when I say horrible, I mean I can’t even stream games over discord.
That being said, what is the minimum uploads/download speed that you need?

A month of streaming every day. (well technically, in actuality I missed a couple days due to poor internet conditions) More than doubled my normal streaming amount per month. 93 hours in total. About as much as I physically could with a fulltime job without my life completely falling apart . It averaged out to about 3 hours streamed per day. This challenge was partly to see if my relative low number of hours streaming is the reason that my numbers have never really grown since I started streaming over half a year ago now.

Results? Numbers wise it was mixed. Average viewership was down slightly from my more normal 40 hours streamed a month, likely because more of the hours I streamed were on "bad" days of the week and less were on Friday Saturday and Sunday. If you squint really hard, there does seem to be a slight trend upwards with my viewership, but its not exactly obvious. Somehow I got worse numbers of people following my account during the month than most of my previous months. I cant really explain why that was exactly, maybe the quality of my content suffered.

On the positive, and not really reflected in stats, side. I did notice a huge growth in how much more I bonded with some of my followers, and many of these followers that very recently joined. There was a few that showed up almost every single stream. I guess you could call it growth in parasocial relationships. This resulted in streaming being much more fun for me, and the few times I was unable to stream due to internet problems made me genuinely sad. Somehow I don't think I am even close to burning out. I probably will keep a busier streaming schedule in the future because I enjoy it more now.

So what is my conclusion? In my case I don't think that my relative lack of streaming is why my numbers have remained so low over the time I have been streaming. Its almost certainly due to some other factors that I wont go into here, but anyway thanks for reading about my little experiment. I hope it was interesting or useful to somebody.
