There are plenty of oldfags. Hell, some of them are chuubas themselves; VTubing's been referred to as the retirement home for oldfags. It's just that the newfag to oldfag ratio is astronomically high, especially in the Hololive threads. Having an ID branch doesn't help either. /vt/ also doesn't have highly restrictive rules like Reddit does in comparison, or most other VTubing discussion forums.

I tried making a 2017 era vtuber thread once on here and it surprised me that it got so little replies. All I can imagine is that the people who browse this board must be very young, because Kizuna Ai was a big phenomena for a long time and it's hard to imagine that anybody interested in anime at the time wouldn't have checked her out.

I think it might be like that cause, despite a lot of people knowing of the older vtubers like Ai-chan, Kagura Luna, etc. during their time there weren't as many people clipping and translating their content.

They recognize them but there wasn't a away to regularly consume their content they way you can now, and seems not a lot of clippers are interested in clipping them.
