Streaming is overrated. Nobody watches a vtuber (or streamer) because they are particularly entertaining. They just watch them because they saw them in a meme or fanart and want to feel like they are fans of the source material, just to "fit in." It's the same thing with gacha games. The constant hunt for "secondaries" and "fake fans" has lead to an epidemic of no standards because people always value the source material over any derivatives even if the source material is vastly inferior. And worst of all the source gets free advertisement off the backs of fans who honestly do the real work in increasing interest for vtubers (and streamers) without seeing so much as a dime from them. And those fans are probably doing it because one their favorite artists, animators, or other social media personalities made something relating to a vtuber and now they feel obligated to be fans of that vtuber as well. Nothing is honest anymore, and it's led to a watered down form of entertainment where everyone pretends they're enjoying it just so they don't feel like they're missing out on something. If people were more honest with themselves and others, then there wouldn't be a fear of missing out and streaming would have virtually no market value.

Watch better streamers kek. Holos can get away with putting out few, terrible, boring streams because the community that has formed around them carries them. People are in love with the community, not the vtuber: memes, art, animation, games. The vtuber is only there to be an icon, a mascot character to inspire fan content. In this aspect Hololive is pretty similar to Touhou, bullet hells are kinda niche but the creativity of its fandom brought a lot of people in.
Watch 2views that have only themselves to rely on to keep a stream entertaining.
This is also why Polka is my favorite Holo by the way. She focuses on livestreaming games a lot less than a regular holo, sings a lot more and even does a fair amount of actually good prerecorded content. I feel she is one of the few that isn't carried by her community.

If I can't watch it live I will watch the VOD or wait until I have time to do so
If I can't find time then it's okay, I move on and look forward to the next stream. FOMO is for children
I ignore any and all clip channels which display clickbait themed behavior
If said clickbait channel exhibits titles with poor grammar/spelling mistakes I will hide & block them immediately
If a channel spams useless polls, posts screenshots of vtubers' tweets, or uploads lewd fanart on their page for the sole purpose of baiting traction and likes to their channel, then that is also an instant block

Watch streams. Get to know the vtuber properly. See them as they are meant to be viewed. You will find yourself having a far more enjoyable experience.

I don't know about the whole text but it is completely true that corpos vtubers are profiting from basically being hard carried by everybody else, including fans working for free.
Their models, their stream backgrounds and frames, the fuck ton of fan-art they get (some of them even used as high quality stream thumbnails),
the fan clip channels and all other free publicity, the company publicity for them, the sponsors they get from being in a big corpo (yes, they do something get sponsors as a pack, not because they were specifically required for it),
the games they play, the movies they do watchalongs for, the songs they cover, the original songs they get (done by composers and lyricists), the choreographies they do by imitating choreographers in a some sort of school.
All of them are done by others and often by free.
They basically just have to show up every now and then and have a good enough voice and personality (that they probably got trained in the months on between their hiring and their debuts) and even the most boring ones just get classified as "comfy".

Vtubers should have never been streamers first. They should be general purpose entertainers and only use streams to pad content when there's nothing more interesting (concert, album, big competition/event, unique collabs) going on.
