I think it'd be refreshing if they made less stupid capeshit. Sure, the concept is inherently stupid, but it seems like there's so little effort necessary in order to make things a lot better.

Yeah the concept about a high power bringing "peace" to a place that absolute no one ask for is not new but still a cool idea, but in like the middle of the movie they kinda forget about it,m wich is kinda cringe.

The thing is that contemporary capeshit is based on the idea that serious capeshit shouldn't exist. It was a direct reaction and "correction" to the edgy "grimdark" mid/late 00s. People were tired of the edgy aesthetic and mocking it constantly, with a common argument being "the concept is inherently stupid, they shouldn't take themselves so seriously, where are the colors?"
And then the current Marvel meta was established on top of this idea, and you can see the trends changing when you compare early marvel shit to later marvel shit. Iron Man 1 is a fairly sober movie, but starting with the first Avengers, it became unwatchable for me.
With the exception of directors who actually understand comedy, instead of those who went for it in a reactionary way. Guardians of the Galaxy was fantastic because James Gunn is great. But Taika Waititi is also a good director and his Thor movie sucked, so even that isn't guaranteed.
The pendulum does seem to be swinging back a bit, when you see the normalfag reaction to recent products being made in that fashion, like how even twitter mocked the dialogue in God of War Ragnarok, or more recently Forespoken. People are tired of it, I think the Thanos arc ending was the tipping point, people felt like it was a good closure of that entire aesthetic, and are ready to move on.
I miss the edgy 2000s a lot.
