I can think of a variety of reasons. To start with, it's a single player game with purchasable items. The whole system with looting bot is terrible. The fact you can buy extremely OP stuff for real money(though you don't need it) in single player game is offensive on its own. Then, it lost its identity. You're now facing humans. Humans with guns. And yet you apply same methods as when fighting necromorphs except you just shoot the body. And there's a fucking cover system now. The whole "methodical dismemberment" aspect is pretty much gone. So basically, it stopped being Dead Space and became Cash Grab. You can thank EA for that. The Coop is also a mixed bag though it does offer a couple interesting experiences. The story(outside of fucking love triangle in fucking Dead Space) is probably the on saving grace.

I disagree. DS2 was more action-focused but it didn't make it a worse game. In fact a lot of improvements of DS remake are taken from DS2. I'd also say that those new aliens(Stalkers I think?) were quite unsettling since DS for the most part has only 2 repeating ways to "scare" you and both grow older than Ishimura itself few hours in. You could see Mori become less and less affected with each passing minute.
