I can see it being either, but my bet is still on Idol. Idol seems to be much further along when it comes to music stuff than Phase Connect, and Idol’s also openly advertised rm’s for newly debuted vtubers while Phase only does that invaders (which is completely different anyway).
I can see the argument being made that Idol already has Riro, so adding yfu would be unnecessary competition. On the other hand, I can also see them looking at irys and concluding that having a solitary vsinger who’s not in a gen is pointless and making an unofficial “gen” out of their vsingers.

Phase covers tend to be around or below the 10k mark compared to Idol songs while several of the Idol girls’ covers are above 20k, and Riro’s debut mv got 40k.
My comment has nothing to do with the girls’ singing ability. It’s just a simple matter of Idol really pushing for more emphasis on music from the start and Phase inclining for non-music reasons (it doesn’t help that Pippa is the least confident about her singing in the company while being its de facto face).
Idol’s audience seems more receptive to music stuff, while I’ve seen plenty of comments on /pcg/ about how Sakana should stop wasting time and energy on covers and stuff like that. I don’t even agree with that opinion, I’m just mentioning it to say that’s another possible reason Phase is weaker in music that has nothing to do with the girls’ singing ability—that their audience isn’t the kind that’ll listen to the covers a bunch and get it promoted in the algorithm.
