It really would have benefitted from one extra day or two of work. The easter egg scavenger hunt was a great idea, but the abundance of eggs, their position and the random point values made it an RNGfest instead of actual competition utilizing map awareness. The quiz points also didn't work properly, which made the segment just funny trivia instead of competition. A game was also missing, presumably because of the lack of physics. It still had it's moments and I agree that it was a success, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kiara went back to 2D collabs for a while after this.

I almost bought Engage and ended up not since I knew I wouldn't have time to play it. I like turn based strategy games generally, and don't mind relaxed and long streams, but I think "this playthrough has drug on longer than is comfortable" is a pretty universal sentiment right now.
Is there anything Kiara could have done to dodge that, or is that just how Engage is as a game? Even if she played on easy she'd still probably have longer maps and need to retry things, so I don't chalk it all up to the difficulty.

Not relied on chat for every move. Most maps are 1-2 hours long for most players, maybe a bit more if you are on hard/classic and having to restart a lot. I personally feel Engage is a bit too long in general though cause you fight the 4 Stooges way too much and their is some real filler like the boat map.

Trust me it really is since she can't turn her brain off and easily one round enemies hence why she constantly needs chat backseating her and that heavily extends stream time as it adds up. My first hard playthrough took around 70 hours and that included all the divine and normal paralogues. The game's pacing is fine it's really just the issue of her playing on hard and not properly building characters that's dragging the playthrough on for so long

desu this isn't even a FE Engage specific issue, just because it's the current game ofc people talk about it but it's just another symptom. But it's a general thing, most of her longer-running game series fall into this trap pattern. She's excited in the beginning, then there are long stretches of slog in the middle where she's clearly mentally checked out (just like the viewers, seeing as only the baseline 2k hardcore kfp stick around to watch) and would rather tangent about any other random stuff because the game routine is becoming boring and isn't giving her much to work with, and then she's just forcing herself into a thank-god-its-over mad dash to the end because even she wants to be so done with this shit.
Only to repeat the cycle again in a few weeks with some other long-running jrpg series, thinking this time it'll be different, but ofc it's just follows the same repeating pattern.

Not saying she should only play short oneshot indie kusoge instead, but there's a happy middleground between that and exhausting herself and the audience with 40+ hour long games instead that she and the audience lose interest in halfway through. Some of her best streams have been games that take around 2-3 streams, so long enough to get invested but short enough that they don't overstay their welcome.

I brought the game because seeing Kiara play was really frustrating, and it was my first FE game. I did a clear in Hard (no dlc) and in madenning (with DLC).
A lot of her issues is her not understanding the game mechanic at all, another part is her being shit at ressource management

You can easily do that on hard if you actually properly invest in the units and weapon you use, she could solo some maps with just Yunaka/Panette since the Hard AI is really fucking stupid and will attack enemy that they can't hit/damage. She just badly managed her ressource, and really don't understand what most classes does. I'm half sure she doesn't even know that half of the game classes actually exist.
Which is honestly another one of Kiara's issue in most game playthrough, she really hates to learn the mechanics of the game she play.

eh, it's not that impossible. No need to spoiler, I don't think it's too controversial even among kfp to say that yeah Kiara isn't one for deep mastery of game mechanics, it's pretty evident. Well, that's the funny thing, she could actually focus more on stream interaction and less on gameplay if she actually took the time to understand the game. The only thing her lack of game knowledge offer to the stream is a lot of backseating with a lot of KFP giving her differents advices (and often stupid advice). In her defense, FE (and other long jrpgs in general) are just kinda meh games in general, with all the boring turn-based combat and item usage and menu navigation etc. Kiara doesn't do well with spreadsheet stuff. Could she do better if she put her mind more to it? Yeah sure. But it could also be avoided by simply playing less of these types of games in the first place, especially when you already know you don't deal with the mechanics too well. Sure, you could say she's at least in it for other reasons, like the characters or the story, but she often glosses over those as well. But she thinks of herself as "the jrpg gamer of EN", so this will just keep happening again.

It's not even that she doesn't do well with long games in general, it's just these types of games. Yakuza was also long, but she pushed through mostly fine because the actual gameplay was mostly just action button-mashing which she can manage, plus it had enough minigames for variety. If anything, her hardest zoning out parts in those games were during the longwinded cutscenes where people just stand around talking about some political intrigue bullshit.
And she doesn't do too bad with having to "think" in games either. Portal is a puzzle game (or "riddles"for wawa) and she cleared it in a normal time and it was a great fun playthrough. It's just the special kind of "thinking" that jrpgs demand for more optimal play, the whole number crunching and strategy optimization, that she's not too engaged with.

The biggest issue is that once she decided that she was going to make a series out of a game, she's not going to drop it no matter what, even if it's shit. She should have dropped FE, that's the thing. She barely tolerate the story, she doesn't care about the gameplay, she have litteraly no reason to keep playing the game except keeping her pride about "At least I don't drop game hahaha".
She also should have dropped Metroid, for the record.

Already ruling that out is cheating, many viewers do find it annoying when games aren't finished and will complain till they are. So at least speeding through would solve that. You've also been greatly exaggerating that she hates the game, when she still mostly enjoys it and gets a lot of pleasure out of stuff like marrying underage girls. She did fine enough with Metroid for the majority of the game. Not amazing ofc, but nobody expected she'd speedrun the game anyway, she had her struggles but did okay for what you could expect from someone of her level of game sense and (lack of) instinctual knowledge of mechanics. It was really only at the end where she got unnecessarily tilted for some reason. Unnecessarily because she did not even do particularly bad, most people that aren't hardcore gamers will take a few tries to beat the end bosses, it's just that her whining made it seem worse than it is instead of just grinding through it. Idk maybe she had a bad day or smth, or maybe ovulation-anon can track where she was in her period.

So I don't think Metroid itself was so bad it really needed to be dropped already halfway through. Some other games, yeah sure I admit I wouldn't be particularly upset if she gave them a cost-benefit estimate and realized that sometimes dropping a game which neither you or the audience are all that into anymore is actually more helpful than it hurts. What would even be the drawbacks? Ok, you'd lose the few hundred people who only showed up for the game, and you may hurt your "gamer pride", but if Kiara cared about her gamer pride, she should just get better at games period lol. So it can actually be beneficial if you just switch to something else that you and most of the audience enjoy more instead. Especially when it's games that are so long that you don't even see the silver lining of "oh well whatever, it's only one more stream to the end, might as well finish it..." already on the horizon, but an additional 20+ hours of more "oh god make it stop plz...". I'll admit that I mostly put on part 234 of whatever longrunning jrpg series she's currently playing just out of some stupid sense of kfp obligation, not because I actually want to see the game, rather just to hear her occasional cute tangents in the background while I do something else.

Funny enough, that's one game I'm sad she dropped. Elden Ring was one of the very rare game where Kiara ACCEPTED to lose. Kiara in most game see losing as a big waste of time and an obstacle instead of something that's just an natural part of playing a game. That's why she rely so much on chat to take decision in most game, because she want to avoid losing which would then "waste time". And because she want to avoid losing, a lot of her playthrough lack of "gameplay creativity", and she mostly does some sort of semi optimal strat given to her by chat. But losing and by extension, trying out stuff, is part of playing a game, and I would love to see Kiara do more of that. For Margit, seeing her change her summon, try different weapon, with or without the assist, etc was fun. Her boss rush stream was fun, I kind of want to see more of "Kiara is playing" rather than "Chat is mostly playing and Kiara is pressing button".
Another good game for that was Portal, it was an amazing playthrough, she tried tons of her idea, and she vibed a lot with the story, i want more of that kind of stuff.

The fanbase is not totally uniform and those are different groups, there are people who like the long running jrpgs and there are people who care less for those types of games.

It's not even that much of a problem, as Kiara manages to diversify her streams enough in most "normal" weeks, so that we'd have "only" one day of long-running series stream per week, one or two other shorter games in between, and one or two variety streams like collabs etc. More complaints mostly only come in weeks where the usual pattern diverges too much, like for example when there's too much of a long-running game (mostly when Kiara is near the end so she forces herself into a mad dash spam to get it finally over), or on the opposite side some weeks where there are too few game streams, or too few streams in general, because she's travelling etc.

Not much she can do about it, but like you said, you can't please everyone, and she manages to balance it okay at least most of the time. Though I'll admit, let's just say I'm not too sad about FE ending soon™ and we have some weeks of breathing room free of another long running series, at least until Zelda starts. Which I think will be more enjoyable, as it's not as monotonous like jrpg menu gameplay, and she's more engaged with action.

In addition she has an AI-powered filtering system for sensitive topics that can be manually overridden. Vedal can see what she's going to say before she can say it so he can cut her off at any time if she goes off the rails.
