People failing to realize vtubers are “characters” being voiced by voice actors/actresses and getting angry because “they lied” is the most brain rotting shit in society. people say reddit is a hugbox but people i know browse r/lsf for the newest eceleb drama and shitflinging and they apparently make frontpage regularly. it only hasn't seeped into their vtuber spaces because of moderation that i doubt we'll get here.
you know what i honestly think it is? i think in part the masses are turning on them because of the perceived financial success so they look at it as punching up but maybe that's just me.
there's a reason trashy tabloids and tmz and the like stay in production. it just lands for us when it's entertainers we actually consume regularly.
then again net culture as a whole is also just more of a trash heap unless your community raises people to not devolve into it. everyone can now do the equivalent of making the QRT that gets more likes. all you can do is not make yourself an easy target which is harder when you're a public figure.
