Marine and Towa talked about wanting to do OW together, the only other person they could think of in hololive that might want to play was Amelia, but they were worried if they would be able to play properly with the language barrier. Marine said since most of the communication in OW is just simple callouts, it might work fine if they do it in English, but they would have to focus more on their pronunciation to make sure Amelia can understand.

This is why Towa is great, because she filters out the people who are looking for low-investment chuubas and retains a core of loyal fans who actually bothered to appreciate her. Anyone that can bothers to spend time watching her would quickly realize how her potential for gap moe is limitless, like how despite her "masculine" voice and tomboyish design, she's one of the most girly of all hololive. Or how despite how she gives off a cool impression up front, she's a massive, massive dork. And how despite being a tough cookie and not taking shit from haters, antis, and other vermin, she gets along with almost everyone and has many beloved friends.
The only con is that this means she has us by the balls, like by mindbreaking the kenzoku into loving Apex. But that's a sacrifice that I am willing to make.

I don't even watch Towa that much and she isn't my oshi but I browse this thread all the time mainly for her fanart cuz her design is 10/10 and I have to say, you kenzokus are alright.

That period really was almost a "worst case scenario", she was at her breaking point and it was caused by something that was out of her control (management). I'm glad she managed to solve that, she seems really happy with her current manager.
Though even that wasn't really that long of a break, all things considered. It was around 3 weeks without any solo streams if I remember correctly, but there were a few collabs spaced in between.
Haato/Shion/Ayame have been fairly inactive for months at this point. They stream every once in awhile, but not with any kind of regularity. Miko was gone for almost 3 months without any streams, Mio for over a month.
It definitely could be worse.

We've all been in doomposting mode but the fact is that we've seen Towa at her absolute lows and she always bounces back stronger than ever. Even when she thought of quitting after the yab and was the runt of yonkisei for months while her genmates were in the midst of the big vtuber breakout. There was also her fear of collabs, which was only resolved thanks to the efforts of a certain 5ch shitposter that dragged her out of solitude and introduced her to one of the filthiest NEETs in the world. Even when said 5ch shitposter got busted and banished to the depths of hell, Towa persevered even though she wasn't even allowed to grieve the loss of her best friend. This is the latest blow to Towa, but she's not alone anymore like she was in the past. She has a support network now, and she's not the defenseless cinnamon roll she used to be. This is one of the reasons I think she's unlikely to leave hololive to be honest, she has the opportunity to make a lot of money. I'm not saying she's greedy or anything, but she's hyper aware of the value of money because she comes from a family that wasn't really well off, she's talked on stream before about working 2 jobs and also having to pay her own schooling fees while working. That combined with the fact she's talked about how much she hated some of the previous jobs, I think she understands how big of an opportunity being in hololive is. Whenever she talks about money, it's obvious that it's a topic she takes really serious, both for herself and for kenzoku (always tells people not to overdo it with superchats). She also said she hardly spends any of her money, and just saves all of it.

Something I've been thinking about is how when Towa took a break with a dispute with management last October, I wonder if it was them refusing to let her participate in the Apex tournaments because of men. If you think about it in the context of Coco feeling blocked by management as a result of the incident, it might be that Towa was also blocked from collabing with "males" because of the male voice yab when she first started. I remember it was a bit of a stepwise function to get to where we are today, as the first tournament she was in was an all-girls team, and she was forced into an all-girl team during the afterparty. Then the second tournament she had Wokka but "there would be a manager in the voice chat," and then that was the last we heard of any of that and now Towa is pretty much uninhibited and was even able to do the commentary on ALGS as the only girl on stage.
Perhaps the real damage of yabs is not the actual yab itself but how management responds to it.

If the revenue line is $418,230, and you figure something like a 40% margin for Cover side, that's $167,328. We know that holos tend to get a bigger share on merch than on superchats, and we know that roughly 30% of superchats go to the talents. If we say the talent gets 50% of merch, that means her pre-tax income is around $84k from merch alone this year so far.

So her pre-tax income comes out to around $145k. This would put her in the top 5% of household incomes in Japan. On top of that she's presumably in the younger part of the demographics curve, which makes roughly half of what people over 50 make, and she's a female who make something like 80% of what men make. Towa might very well be one of the highest earners in Japan.

No, both solo and party have the same ranking. AFAIK, only Dota and LoL bothers doing that shit because stacking is unfun as hell. Which is also why its pretty rare to find solo queue warlords that get to Predator by himself. The ones you see on Twitch, TSM trio, nips, Sweet, they all play in stack. It would be impossible before S6, where diamond will face preds in the same lobby, you need to fight against monsters to actually climb to Masters.
Today's Diamond lobby is babby mode, full stacking will guarantee you wins. Solo-queueing Diamond is practically suicide, since you're rolling your RNG to get good teammates. In S7 you can just spam Bloodhound scan and get assists, not this season. So no, there is no reason to get Masters unless you no longer want to play ranked. Because Masters is full of premade sweats and you no longer have diamond players to bully.
Apex ranking distribution isn't helping either, it's full of systems that keeps Diamond players guessing their actual performance so everyone feels good about themselves. And the predator RP ranking system that strokes the ego of the top 1%.

She took a break in the middle of an Apex endurance stream and somehow accidentally joined a Discord voice channel with her real life friends in it, they were heard on stream and then she tried to cover it up by saying it was management.
Of course people managed to figure out who the voices were, so she had to make an apology stream for the situation, and went on a week break afterwards.
There's a lot of aspects to this, most people in the English Vtuber scene thought the issue was about having a male voice on stream, ie: idolfags freaking out that she was interacting with men, so she got a bunch of Western saviorfags from it, but most people on the Japanese side of things were actually more upset about who the people actually were and what they were doing, people thought she was cheating in Apex by having them ghost her stream so she could finish the endurance stream faster. There were also a lot of people who thought she was just unprofessional in general, a little while before this incident there was another incident where she was doing on off collab with Coco and she accidentally turned on her webcam on stream. It wasn't actually pointed at them, so it didn't show anything, but it could have been really really bad for both of them.
