Why are so many Vtubers playing all the same few games over and over again Ad nauseam?
People like Korone and Fubuki have proven that You can entertain a big audience with just about any title, even Retro or Niche material.
So wheres the problem here?

>> No.5048672

My oshi plays a lot of different games so I don't care.

>> No.5048896

Someone gets permission to stream X game, others see they pull good numbers, they stream that game too because there is interest and they don't have to think about what to stream. It's a low-hanging fruit.

Too lazy to ask for permission, easier to just play already approved/safe ones

This.
It's the same reason after the Swede started making retarded reactions to horror games, every single tard did the exact same for almost a decade.

Trendchasing. It's not just any vtuber, it's how memes gain traction before expiring.

because you're watching soulless corpo chuubas

I just want a sim racing vtuber. Vihaan was cool but he’s gone my rrat is that he is an actual racing driver

>> No.5053403

Even though I understand that they play games they were given permission to play (stupid Japanese laws), I'd still like to see them playing more games, trying out new genres, like retro shooters or RTS for example. Imagine Korone playing something like Ion Maiden for example.

They are not gamers, they don't particularly like video games but use them as a means to entertain their viewers. So trying hard to create a big variety not only among your own streams, but across your whole company is just not something that matters to them.

>> No.5053993

Most of them are not real gamers, so they play the mainstream or safe stuff like MC and MonHan. On the other side you have Korone which is a cute boomer doggo that really enjoys all kind of games despite being bad at them.

The problem with rts stuff and even rpgs is that they are slow burning games. Before you say >Kiara, she has been on record as saying that she noticed a lower viewcount for games like the Atelier series.

I'd love to see a group of them playing Divinity Original Sin 1 or 2, or even Baldur's Gate 3, since those games have co-op tailored for intense cooperation and not just "killing things until they die"

Maybe the problem is you choose to watch too many Vtuber? I watch Miko, Coco and sometimes Kanata, never bored.

in hololive?

If they play great games, then you limit the audience to people who'd watch them no matter what, and people who have already finished said game.
If it's a good game that I haven't played, I'd rather play it myself than have it spoiled to me with someone speaking over it.

Because they can’t think for themselves if one dumb bitch plays a game they all have to even indies even tho they can literally do whatever they want.

This. On the one hand it's a popular story heavy game that I enjoyed, watching the streamer's playthrough and reactions can be a lot of fun. But if I haven't played the game and plan to, then I skip.

Flavor of the month and also companies can be jerks about giving copyright permission for some of the most interesting games

These laws are global, not just in Japan. If it were just in Japan you could get around it by just playing foreign games. Copyright law for a work depends only on the country it was made it. So a book made by an American author would fall under American copyright law no matter what country you actually are in.

It's a lot easier to attract audience with retro titles because we grew up with them and I assume COVER is less restrictive on what to stream and not to stream with old-ass games.

>> No.5073218

>>5048636
Serious answer. Friendship and etiquette.
Those whom are into games, play the same new titles just to have some topics for their private interactions, while those whom are truly not, still follow trends to fill their appeal quota to fans. In a sense their choice selection has nothing to do with channels or fans, gachis will watch them regardless so there no merit on digging obscure titles.
