What's there not to get? It's basically the streamer filling in for the lonely needs of others as a surrogate significant other. It CAN be parasocial, but GFE can just be used as an alternative like any other type of stimulation or human needs. Sometimes it happens by accident, sometimes it is deliberately cultivated. Sometimes it is indeed manipulative and exploiting viewer loneliness. Most often it's just a harmless meeting of people who enjoy fulfilling their social needs in this way. There is nothing inherently wrong with GFE as long as both parties have enough self awareness.
