Yeah for all the talk about being idols, it seems a lot of non-Japanese fans don't really care much or know about jpop idol music. You can see it when she talks about h!p in the streams very few people seem to know anything about the groups.
Which makes sense really, since the streams are focused on games and not idol type activities that's a major component of the audience.

I don't necessarily blame people either. The real beginning of Hello Project was at a time when stuff like Youtube, Wikipedia, etc didn't exist much yet, or was in its infancy. Anime fans kinda knew what Morning Musume was, but you had to be a super duper weeb at the time to know more than that. Same with Berryz Kobo. Kiara's timeframe of knowledge is a huge gap to even general anime fans of the time, much less modern fandom.

Stolen from /morig/ again. Why are they so into cucking Mori?

A knock on the door. You open it up and stick your head out to make sure the hall is clear. You grab Kiara by the shirt and yank her inside. You hear her stumble and fall behind you as you lock the door.

It was 30 minutes later that Calli came back in. You laying in bed, facing away from the doorway, pretending to be asleep, troubled by the demons of your own creation. She changed and got into bed.

I like the idea of idol culture itself, but the actual music generated from most idol groups is not something I've ever really been big into myself and I think others might be in the same boat. What if I told you you don't have to be a 1-to-1 analog of your pretend girlfriend to make a relationship work?
Beyond all that, while Kiara is into idol stuff and a lot of her character is based on the culture/ideas, I still think she's far-flung from being an actual idol. She's very personal and reveals a lot about herself and while she plays her character, there's a lot of herself put in there. When I think idol, I think of a character, a perfect doll that has many rules in place to hide their true self. Kiara keeps some of the rules she likes/thinks are important for her character in place while displaying a large part of her actual personality to us. I'm not going to judge the other girls because I don't watch them enough, but Kiara is a hell of a drug and based on the limited interaction, Kiara puts the most of her personal life into herself on performance. I think that's NOT an idol trait and I'm glad she is the way she is.

Ina is honestly pretty similar to Kiara just in the other direction. Where Kiara is hype Ina is calm.
Their streaming styles are very distinct and if you randomly tune into one of their streams you can very quickly tell that it's one of their streams.
They are also both dominant in collabs; Ina calms people down while Kiara bullies her partners if they don't pull their weight. That's probably why TakoTori is such a great duo despite them being so different: both are actually good streamers.

The other three are honestly more like twitch streamers that accidently stumbled into Hololive and you can really tell from their chat. Endless emote spam even when nothing happens.

That's why I'm very interested in how she's going to sing her original song, there's no way to know how she's gonna sing it BUT she has read the feedback about her low voice since her first unarchived Karaoke, and has been opening up more about english songs over time and got good feedback from it (which IMO is the whole reason she feels confident enough to try an english song now)
Either way, as she said in one of her Q&A Kiara was supposed to be a cutesy character with a cutesy voice so it makes sense she's trying so hard to push for that angle.
