Well there's a lot of stuff involved here.
1.First and foremost is not debuting males at the start, or not starting with a mixed wave. 3 waves of girls alone meant that the initial company culture was established in a certain way, so debuting males after all that time meant that the fanbase became irrevocably broken.
2. No direction + "family". Luxiem just copied other chuubas initially, but once their coombait shit got popular, they dived right into it. At the same time there's livers like Pomu, Selen, Rosemi etc. who are completely different in terms of branding. These different audiences would be more comfortable staying with their oshi alone or just enjoying collabs with similar people, but the forced "family" bullshit means that there's collabs with the opposite brand folks almost every other day, meaning every other collab grates on the fanbase as a whole and makes them feel bad instead of good.
The one liver that tried to stay as on-brand as possible (Selen) is also simultaneously the most hated because her brand doesn't consist of people within Nijisanji and she doesn't play into the fake family bullshit.
This lack of unified "direction" also means that there's no concepts or ideas of "nijisanji" for the fans to rally behind, resulting in them just latching on to the "Nijisanji" brand name itself for unity, since that's the only thing common among all the livers. This ofc results in a lot of company bootlicking and China style "toeing the company line" bullshit, a far cry from Nijisanji's roots as the "rebel" group that just did whatever the fuck they wanted.
3. All out war. Worst part is that it was never acknowledged and no apology was made, and the server without management is still up. Gave off the impression that NijiEN is a bunch of shitty people, and became a free target to "hit" with no one defending them other that niji's own defense force or Riku's bootlickers.
4. Striking dramatubers. Last straw arguably. They even hit one of their own bootlickers in this attempt (FalseEyeD) resulting in a large group of youtube channels dedicated to just shitting on Nijisanji and bringing to light every single yab they tried to bury, once again adding to the fracture of the fanbase as they split between people defending the livers and people defending the ever thinning shreds of "company unity" they have left.
The company defense HAS to be fervent btw, because that's the only thing keeping the disparate fanbase under one umbrella.
5. Zaion : The start of the aforementioned livers vs company divide, cemented Nijisanji as a dogshit company from the outside.
