The closest thing anyone could have done as anything meaningful was done not by us but by Taiwanese seeking revenge on the spammers by doxing them and researching the issue themselves. Thing is even if we wanted to help because of the language barrier and internet know-how overall of the Chinese sphere we just had no hope of making a dent. Despite the alliance with the Taiwanese and their valiant efforts they still couldn't stop the spam either themselves and it still goes on to this day even after Coco's leaving. So really OP what THE FUCK should "we" have done? How could "we" have made a difference? Cover set it up to fail basically by not taking it seriously enough and hoping it just goes away. We had no say in the matter.

In the end she just left (or was coerced out or whatever happened) and it's covered up just by pure fucking intimidation / using the girls as human shields, a perfectly common and scummy fucking thing Japanese companies do. "You're going to hurt all the girls' smiles if you talk shit about Cover or Coco so don't" etc. Banned just for mentioning the fucking obvious, that the China situation was handled terribly in every imaginable way from their initial reaction to their pulling out to the months of spam. I think they themselves pretended it wasn't really a big deal or not worth their time etc when no, it was eating away at Coco because she knew she was starting to infect other members' chats too and just overall being a big burden.

The 'creative differences' thing is complicated by the fact that her restrictions got harsher probably in large part BECAUSE of the China situation in the first place, it's kind of a chicken or egg matter. If that never happened or had been handled successfully she at least would have been able to collab with ENs and probably do a lot more of what she wanted but was instead basically quarantined as a black sheep.

Lastly to compound on it it appears Haachama didn't take it well what happened either and it's a fair bet that she's down on herself for being tied to Coco's problems. Her indefinite hiatus announcement came what, a day or two after Coco's graduation announcement? ABSOLUTELY related. Haachama is punishing herself for it basically, I think, and/or halfway wants to leave with Coco too in solidarity but doesn't want to make the fallout even worse than it is so possiblly is in the soft-graduation route (a common thing in Niji actually, don't stream for like half a year to wear down peoples' expectations for you, then come back just to say you're leaving).

Everyone close to her in Hololive couldn't change her mind, so you just have to accept her decision and be glad that its technically not final. The door really is open if things change and she wants back in. She has one of the best graduations in vtuber history and most intact legacy.

Basically they want to prevent losing the reputation of the company by people convincing other people to be mad over what Cover did. They think if they can prevent people discussing it, they can save their image. They are mostly right, but places like this allow people to vent a bit. I think Cover was somewhat hurt by what happened even if they do everything in their power to prevent it.
