/asp/ is a thread for vtubers to give and receive advice related to vtubing.

You're better off not caring, honestly. A lot of them graduated on masse and the remaining ones formed their own clique. They had to deal with a lot of bad things thread related. Schizos, viewershizos, chuubashizos, skinwalkers, crabs (gen3 was the first to use the term heavily), and /asp/ was basically a dumping ground for discord drama for a good while. The thread was constantly on the first page and 400+ posts were the norm. God I get second hand embarrasment just from remembering. What a mess.

Made me chuckle, to be honest I just don't like a seeing an inactive chat because I know it weights negatively on some streamers so even If I don't feel like chatting I will use emotes, also many times when I start using the chat other will do it too because they were too shy to be the only ones chatting

Don't worry about it. That's the whole point of us posting our links here, isn't it? So that we won't stream to the void. Having someone view is nice, but the interaction is the fun part of streaming. For me, at least.
As long as you follow the streamer's rules, there shouldn't be any issue.
If you do that, then at worst, you'll make a reference the streamer doesn't get, which can then become another topic of conversation, so win-win either way.

There was a viewer discord that had a bunch of schizos in it. They unironically tried to groom all the new female aspies and did some fucked up shit. Part of the drama was because the visage aspcord encouraged viewers to join and there was some weird drama coming from there for a long time.

For at least a few months /asp/ was almost dead with nobody debuting and the thread regularly dying before bump limit and it was basically just the viewercord people keeping it alive so that they could groom new girls that posted their link here. It felt like some creepy honeypot. It was a really negative place and they drove all but the thickest skinned males away.

/asp/ just has a higher concentration of people who just started, but people who have been aspies for years still lurk and post here, and they are still considered aspies. But in general, this thread is more welcoming as long as it's the actual chuuba doing the posting. /wv/t is much more gatekept and they play favorites, but they tolerate aspies posting somewhat, hence the /asp/ to /wvt/ pipeline.

I wouldn't go that far, it's more like people there do like selfposting chuubas but the schizos that don't and actively want to push them away are far, far more vocal and prone to spamming that thread than they are here.

I think you shouldn't think that way. Realize that that the streamer isn't just talking to those 1 or 2 viewers directly, but to the chat as a whole while replying to them. Of course, streamers may vary, and when the viewership is low, the distance between chatter and streamer is a lot smaller -- but the streamer appreciates any and all comments, especially at that stage (so long as they follow the stream's rules).
As a streamer, and as a chuuba, I did everything wrong at first, at least once. One of those things was addressing a viewer whom I knew was watching, asking them about something. I had to realize that, just like me when I'm a viewer, my viewers aren't always available or there for 100% of the time, so I changed my mindset.
Just focus on having a good time and don't worry too much. Throw an emote or a small comment and see how it goes.

Haru: Femboy demon wolf, very seiso, plays lots of retro games. Leans into kayfabe sometimes. Extremely cute and cozy. Is currently streaming a retro ninja game so go there and say hi. Is debatable whether gen 4 or 5, but with that cute a chuuba, how could you say no to either?

It was just people envious that I got like a 100 person raid like a week or two into streaming. It was really just a factor of the game I was playing. Almost anybody could reliably pull raids like that from the big go streamers if they streamed every time a big streamer ended. Go is actually an extremely nice thing to stream if you want an early quick boost of numbers, a lot of times there are no go streamers streaming and there is always an audience that wants to watch anybody play go. And almost every go streamer will only raid other go streamers, so you get a constant stream of raids while playing it. There arent any other categories on twitch that is as consistently nice to stream on for a new streamer.

the big downside is that very few of these followers will watch you do anything but play go

Yeah I only hang out in /asp/ nowadays, I really can't stand most of this board. Everyone is a coomer, unicorn, and obsessed with numbers and drama.
