Why don't you move there yourself and see how it goes? There are actually nice parts of SEA (just don't go visit the slums and stick to the nice touristy areas). Look up some of the digital nomad blogs in Bali and the like, and you'll see pretty decent living for $1.5-2k a month. If you can make it work, it's definitely worth checking out.
Not sure about ID specifically, but I've started to realize just how much weeb culture there is in some parts of SEA (Thai/PH especially), so I'm sure you can find a weeb girl somehow.
