Reading the TT discussion last thread made me found something interesting that idk if it was posted anywhere before -

The Anime Man had an interview with an ex-idol last year and the whole video was basically "Le Idol Culture bad". Now the interesting thing is that when this girl was asked about any rare success stories, she named drop her "senpai Takanashi Kiara" and they even had Kiara's model pop-up in the video. Now that portion has been edited out. If you don't believe me, check out the comment section and there are several top comments about Kiara and the whole comment thread is a doxfest including talking about that video to further show how bad idol culture is in Japan.

Cover must have contacted him to edit it out because I remember there were no comments sperging about 'doxxing' and there was no drama there or surprisingly even /here/. I don't know if he himself addressed about it or now.

it's more of a general problem and mindset difference, West has a decent few examples of youths having the stardom beaten into them (Jackson, Spears, various Disney starlets), but Koreans, Chinks and Nips added the typical asian flavor of industrialized dehumanization, making the "celebrity production" process almost mechanically efficient but leaving tons of young men and women ground by the cogs

as mentioned, Kiara took a shot at that career pretty early in her life (she was like... 14? 15?), but by industry standard she was already too old and went through typical gamut of exhausting physical routine (she still suffers from aftereffects), para-sexual exploitation (gravure, the wrestling shit) and intra-group competition that broke her career
all of those were pretty typical aspects of early/mid-2000s idol culture and it was and is something worth criticizing, especially when more relaxed and talent-first alternatives start succeeding in the scene (like Hololive)
