Doubt it. The majority of the world (europe, north and south america) use the latin alphabet and use western phonemes. The difficulty of learning a language is diminished if you don't also have to learn an entirely new writing style.
Furthermore a lot of sounds in english are already the same or very similar to sounds in spanish, portugese, and german, as well as other european languages. Mandarin on the other hand has retarded shit like the same phoneme having 5 different possible tones that carry meaning. Furthermore, western writing is phonetic to an extent, much more so than chinese where every word has its own character, which makes it easier to understand.
More importantly, western culture is too different from chinese. English language media dominates the west, but nomatter what the chinks do, nobody wants to watch the retarded shit they make except for a laugh.

You're actually fucking stupid if you think this is the case, especially with English. If you think a language dropping a lot of its retarded elements is becoming "dumber" then so be it.

I think we should all just wait until artificially intelligent language interpreters start rolling out. In 5-10 years you won't even have to learn a second language because you can get mostly accurate realtime subtitles.
Languages are part of the identity of a nation, and simplifying ones language so that foreigners can speak it is pretty cucked. Globalisim is already ruining national identities, lets not accelerate it

>> No.659799

does any language actually turn dumber specifically -for- foreigners? Usually it's just kids who simplify the language. And then there's cases like japan were teens and even adults can't be assed to learn their own kanji.

It basically has much of the same stupid shit that modern day German does, which is why it's often inaccurate for people to say English is so similar to German when it hasn't been for hundreds of years.

>>659686
You are misinterpreting language reforms intending to fix and evict objectively terrible design choices in the language as an infringement upon national identity. Not everything is intended to help foreigners, though even if you want to go on that path, isn't it better that they learn the language and at least attempt to assimilate rather than come in, keep their own identity, and shit up the place? They're coming either way. Linguistic gatekeeping doesn't work anymore.

A lot of the problems of a language are only considered acceptable because you grow up with it, but if you take an objective look at its supposed function, you see it's a waste of time. This is a big reason why English is so common, even aside from the worldwide influence of both the US and UK.

Probably not. But I feel like its a thing that happens as you import more foreigners. Its rare that languages are intentionally edited, they more or less evolve over time.

Languages need to find a good balance between being functional and being representative of the people who belong to the nation.
The ideal language for me is one that belongs to a racially alike group of people and allows for conveyance of complicated ideas with the least resistance due to limitations imposed by the language.
The truth is that globalism has done nothing but drag the first world lower. Therefore any White or Japanese person who isn't a dumb communist should be in favor of preserving their national identity, economy, and language as much as possible

What you're saying is equivalent to thinking that Americans should be proud of using the U.S. Imperial system despite making much less sense than the metric system. Having objectively inferior elements and mechanics in your culture is not something to be proud of because it makes you more of an exclusive group, it just makes your exclusive group look retarded.

Yeah maybe for the jews who own the corporation. The consumer only saves a couple dollars at the supermarket.
Is it really worth the soulless, depressing society that we currently live in?? Wouldn't you be ok with paying extra if it means you get to live in an actually fulfilling society?
Also not to mention that we are about to see a huge spike up of unemployment due to importing immigrants, outsourcing jobs to third worlders, and automation. It will be disastrous, and make all the shit that happened in 2020 look insignificant.

This reminded me, the light novel "my little sister can read kanji" is precisely about a future in which japan has completely moved on from kanji, and the fact that the guy's little sister can read trashy light novels from the 21st century makes her seem like an absolute genius.

>> No.661908

Once upon a time Pekora said rrat and ogey, and both were heavily posted in /hlg/, the original hololive thread on /jp/. Ages past, and /hlg/ was split into /hlg/ and /hlgg/, and the culture diverged when an anonymous made the observation that you can't spell narrative without rrat, and if you do all you end up with is naive. Thus they started to use rrat as a synonym for narrative.

It's pretty fucking stupid if you ask me

pretty much but the rrat narrative observation happened afterwards.
basically hlg narratives were too advanced due to months of shitposts that involved inventing believable yet clearly fake stories to trick people who couldn't speak japanese or didn't know enough. when the EN debuts happened they started posting narratives and the threads went into a total meltdown. following imageboard logic the only way to save the threads was to shitpost even more so the ogey rrat cascades were deployed and people eventually learned to not be so gullible.
