So does this kind of stuff mean over 200k people were there? Why is youtube like this.

>> No.6754972

Someone watching for at least 30 seconds counts as a view
A person can return to a video about 4 times and have each be counted as a new view

People come and leave during stream.

>> No.6755626

it means that 200,000+ people tuned in, many left, some stayed, etc..

>> No.6755762

people tuned in and out about 200,000 times. It was peak 21,000 live viewers for the stream. There can be more than 21,000 checking out the video but it's not a flat 200,000 individual people that tuned in.

Is there any actual proof that the same IP can be counted twice in the same stream? Otherwise 10x turnover in a mere 80 minute stream seems incredibly unlikely. For comparison, I've seen stats from Twitch streamers that only show that kind of turnover on 8 hour streams.

So we can assume 1 in 10 people who clicked on the stream stayed, and every else clicked away?

No one said anything about a 10x turnover. You're misinterpreting the numbers.

Small Indie multi-billion dollar company, please understand.

We don't fucking know, YT live numbers have been fucked since the December update, either resulting in tabbed instances counting as "inactive and not counted" every time YT updates, or Adblockers triggering the same, or some other shit. All we know is that for larger audiences there's some weird culling bullshit going on with Live-viewer count besides viewer churn.

no there isn't, that anon read second-hand information from a fucking blog, which talks only about short videos and not streams, and headacannons his own bull shit for the rest.
The only official thing we have is that for short videos you count as a view if you watched for at least 30 seconds. But if you dont watch the full length, multiple refreshes will only add up to your total watch time.
Once you reached the full length, even with skipping or refreshing, then you start counting as multiple views, max 5 times a day to stop bots abuse.
It wont count you as multiple views with just 30 seconds views also again to stop the same bots abuse.
