I have a decent job, a gf and a loving family, and yet being a 30 year old man in a foreign country, I have few close friends - none locally thay I could go for a beer with or w/e, and I've even grown apart quite a bit from my older friends. During the early days of covid lockdowns I spent a lot of time drunkenly messaging friends in the hope of some attention and camaraderie, but I had to face the truth that I was being overbearing after a while. Vtubers have helped fill the void a bit.
