The first vtuber I ever watched is a 2view. She had been streaming for a year and a half when I saw her and she had 8k subs. It's been over 3 years since then. Now she has 12k. At first I felt bad for her and made sure to watch all of her streams, even when they weren't that interesting, because I was comparing her to Hololive and Nijisanji and I thought she was genuinely more entertaining than many of them. However, over time I realized there's tons of vtubers who are just as entertaining with even fewer viewers/subs, and it honestly blew my mind. I couldn't imagine how much they must've wondered if they weren't likable or if they should just quit despite how much they enjoy doing it.

But then I realized it doesn't actually work that way. People are grateful to have any fans at all and they'll do whatever they want regardless of what other people think. They usually don't go menhera over it because, truthfully, there's too many explanations for why their lack of success is simply bad luck or why it might actually even be a good thing. They're just a person doing what they love and if other people come along for the ride, then cool, but there's no point in wasting your time anxiously comparing yourself to others.

And it works in reverse as well. At some point, being called "one of the best" just sounds like white noise.

I think that's sometimes the worst part of 2 digit streamers in general. if you take the smallest break your viewers will disperse and a lot of times never return, with the exception being that your content is unique or different enough to make them "go watch something else while we wait her return"

which (i will be rude) she wasn't, i opened a few vods.
Her energy it's the minimum i expect from a vtuber.
Her interaction with the chat was good but sadly most of the chat just say hi, how are you? and barely something else so there was not really topics (also an interesting amount of spanish speakers), which for a lot of nintendo and other "chill" games it's not good, so her own content was a setback.

So at the end she was average, the good side she was average at everything so it was already better than most 2 digit indies

The bad thing it's that it also means that if she is not streaming a day, i would probably search for another stream (and if youtube streaming search was better) and problably find 3 vtubers that are close to the same quality, and from there if those viewers come back or no it's a throw of a coin

It appears that Kano (self made everything and has to whisper as the rest of her family sleeps) is still grinding on with the 1 view life. As someone who doesn't speak the language Shiroma was one of the 4 JP indies that were introduced to me in the Savourfag threads that I followed for a while. Naito Mearu (now on effective graduation - she says she'll stream every now and then but to treat it as a 'rare GET' as she focuses on studies). Vivienne Kensington is still pumping out weekly guitar & song covers to not quite the void but her 6th most viewed distribution has 5k views after 4 years. So it's difficult to hear that the one with the most promise has succumb to her health issues (from what I remember she had hand issues that affected her ability to hold normal jobs and even required accessibility equipment).
It's hard to comprehend the harsh uncaring of this industry but I wish her luck in the future

there's been a few instances of similar things happening. a 2view I watched years ago had a similar experience except the hidden owner was Japanese, she quit and did a tell all after a few months after he cut off all contact but was still collecting donations/memberships but not paying her.
