Hololive has a lot of friend groups behind the scenes. It makes sense, a lot of women who can't necessarily talk about what they're doing to anyone else in their lives. Kanata is one of the Holomem who spends a lot of time being emotional support for other members. One of the benefits of being in Japan is Fuwamoco have the chance to potentially join one of the support groups and make some more friends they'll be able to talk about what they're doing freely with.

This is why I'll always be sad that Myth lived all over the world instead of all moving to Japan. I remember they finally had an off collab again (last year, I think?) after so long... Kiara even confirmed that they all kinda "grew apart," which makes sense since they're all sp far from each other and all busy or dying of illness/laziness/etc.
Now, obviously, living in Japan isn't inherently gonna prevent this, but it definitely makes it easier for the girls to maintain actual relationships outside of streaming.

You're right, but people with wildly different goals can certainly be friends. Meeting IRL for dinner every now and then, like some of the JP girls, would have done wonders for their individual relationships. It's just kind of a shame how it all turned out in the end, IMO. They don't hate each other or anything, just sort of all in their own lanes for the most part and really don't feel as though they even talk. I feel like Mori probably talks more with FuwaMoco than she does any of the Myth girls.

Yes but in addition to having different goals in the beginning, it also wasn't clear what Hololive EN was going to be, so even if they were all fans of Hololive from the beginning, (which they weren't) they still could not have applied knowing what the endgame would be.

It's easy to forget if you're an oldfag or hard to believe if you're a newfag, but Hololive EN was not always slated to be successful. You can see this from what they started out with, a shoestring budget and like 2 managers between the five of them. It wasn't even known if they would ever receive 3D themselves. Again it may seem hard to believe now but I was there. People weren't sure if EN was going to be 4Kids dub tier localization bullshit or what. The two side branches before them, ID and CN, were both at the time seen as safer bets, countries with huge populations, close to Japan, and full of weebs. Compared to that, the EN weeb market was seen as somewhat mercurial, most of us got in through piracy of anime or manga, when the time came to move merch, would EN fans support them?

Again of course now the answer is a resounding yes but we're only just now getting a branch office in NA, despite EN making up a full quarter of Cover's profits last year or something like that.

IRL meetings are just extra motivators, myth's real issue lies elsewhere. Not seeing each other isn't exactly an impediment, youve heard about advent doing watchalongs before they decided to stream them for example. They aren't the first ones.
