The Great War, sparked by a conflict between two neighbouring countries who were once at peace, has resulted in nuclear annihilation. Billions have died and the great city of Clover Valley now crumbles behind the veil of dust. Across the wasteland, several individuals rise from the ashes and seek out the man who unkowingly holds the key to the events surrounding the war and the launch of the missiles, as well as what's to come. That man is you. You walk the wastes, machete in hand and a single goal on your mind. What does your past hold, and why do you try to keep it hidden? Who will you meet after the world has ended? Is this really a harem? This is Holocalypse, remade.

AAAAAHHHH FUCKING FINALLY! Here it is, the first part of the Holocalypse remake. I really should have released this earlier but it was originally combined with the second part and I had to split it when it was getting too long. I was also unsure about a lot of the decisions I made when writing this and kept it locked up in editing hell for a couple of months, changing a couple of paragraphs then undoing those changes. My main fear is that the worldbuilding and lore dumps are too long and might be a lot to take in, but they're definitely needed for the setting and for the plot to unfold from here on. Next chapter will really get the ball rolling, so please look forward to that. I tried to capture some of the dumbness of the original (as well as some key scenes), but obviously this is supposed to be an improvement so it might have a different feel. Enjoy!

Man, where to start with this one. First off amazing job getting the first part of your remake finished, it definitely reads with so much more flourish than the original and has the beef to it that you clearly want it to have. The way you did what I would call intermissions to help with the worldbuilding was really smoothly executed. The scenes were really easy to read through and I really like the Ame angle in this. I'm looking forward to seeing where that part of the story goes. I think you nailed the vibe and putting me into a dusty, harsh, and overall unpleasant world, I could really picture the scenery.
Like with the original, I like the Anon in this a lot, it really captures the gruff survival driven persona that has his own failings as well. Aqua's portrayal is adorable and it's no surprise she invokes a passion to protect, even if it may not seem like the best idea at the time. Even your jobber goons had the appropriate amount of life and color to them that makes their roles even more enjoyable.
The action was easy to follow and had a fun vibe to it, I enjoyed every line of it.
Music choices were top tier. I love seeing that come together so nicely. I hope I can pull that off too one day, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to isolate a single track to a scene. Overall, this was a really fun read and I'm looking forward to the next part. I think you really nailed this remake bro, rock on.

Basically i keep playing Star rail and i kinda fell in love with the concept of Aeons (space gods) and its followers. TLDR since most people dont care about gacha lore

If a god is born, then the path is born. IF the god dies then the path remains. The Aeon of beauty died but went "hey guys life is so good we dont even need life2. Go protect beauty" and now there's wandering knights that protect flowers, worlds or just ideals because they think they are cute

Its a proof of a concept with no real meaning. The idea of multiple chuubas and their philosophies creating paths that they follow and how that fucks over humanity (i used cover CORP as a faction) could make a cool fic using the totally not stolen idea of the SCP-like cover corp triying to contain and mediate all these weirdos with their ideas and powers.
Add to the mix people with their own paths but no "god" and you have monster of the week/enemy factions with no real connection to the chuuba

I feel like some of your paths include chuubas that more fit a theme than what their walk of life would actually suggest for them. Like Laplace and HoloX should be their own faction, with their own goal of eventually elevating La+ to the power of an Aeon.
Shiori I would argue belongs in the ancients path, due to her own dabblings within things she was not meant to know. She herself is less concerned about causing chaos and more about just pursuing knowledge. It is the measure of truth, and falsehood.
If extraplanar is just your demon realm chuubas, choco and arguably Shion might belong there too. You could also put Moona in if youre going for the theme of space along with Iofi. Even with being pretty versed in the factions and content you are deriving this from, I'm having a hard time gauging what each is really supposed to be with just this chart alone.

The chart has no real meaning. But aside from that i failed to explain a core idea: A path is just the philosophy behind your existance. If you follow destruction it doesnt mean you want everything to dissapear into dust...it might mean you just want to die because you are a walking corpse that cant die (so, your own destruction).

And so, you can actually hang around with people from different paths to reach a similar goal. That's my reasoning to "split" Holox.
They all want world domination, but they approach that meta by walking different ideologies

It would also be good to note that following a path is not the same as your religion. CoverCorp in this case would more so want people to follow the patron god of their religion, but still allows several paths to be accepted among them. I think if you'd like to flesh this out more, you'd start by going a step forward and backward at the same time from this chart. Like you want to think of who are the patron gods of this universe, and from there you go into what their ideal philosophies would be. From there the factions would form around them, and then you'd have your various hometurfs and eventual chuuba placing.

lets say you put all the chuubas who like, say, singing, into one path (the canary?) that would mean azki, nerissa, suisei and towa all have the same powers (say sound based).

A strange nuance about the universe this is inspired from, is that people who follow different paths are not ALWAYS enemies. BUT if you take your own path too literally, you could end up on another path's shit list, and this is with given potential history of a war between patron gods.
Star rail goes super hard into its own background and upper plane lore. You actually want a team together to get stuff like that lining up correctly and being comprehensive.

i we are being facetious, all of the topics are perennial until discussed.
Its rare for a prompt discussed at large to make it and its even harder the longer it goes on. Perhaps the biggest exceptions are fics like Cursed dagger (Where the prompt lands on the correct's person ballpark and they love it so they get to work) or the chadcast ones (Where it was talked a bunch, got a serialized version and a "oneshot" that work on the two angles presented by the original discussion)

Ive lost count how many iroha prompts have evaporated in thin air, or hell, how many miko prompts just dissapear only to resurface months later

Anon, this is basically a different story at this point. When you said remake I thought you were going to touch up a few scenes and add a couple new ones but now you’re setting up an entirely new world from what I can see. Amelia’s subplot came as a pleasant surprise since she had a completely different role last time iirc, and Aqua’s little sickness arc really hit me in the feels. It might’ve hit harder if we had known her for longer, though. Also, what? Koyori? She’s going to be starring? I guess the large clumps of worldbuilding and lore did feel a little long but you at least presented them through dialogue and I don’t mind so much since it tells me have way more planned out. The descriptions of scenery might have also been too long, but they did help paint a picture of the apocalypse. Great job on this, it’s a remake in every sense of the word. Also, that image is pure kino and I respect the effort to make one.

I think by nature it'll always be a perennial discussion topic until someone actually gets it together enough to publish a fic with that concept since litrpg/trashy isekai systems are going to continue to be on the fringes of writing spaces.
I don't think anyone is making one of those, since if you're making an original fantasy world and system with chuuba characters it's only a short leap of logic to just "file off the serial numbers" and make those characters expys rather than the chuuba itself... Which would immediately make the fic out of scope for /wg/ but we'll at that point you have an original story you can post on royalroad +writers forums in order to see if you can make it on the Amazon publishing and or patreon bucks route many writers are shooting for nowadays.
Closest thing in archive is THE DINKY by way of being an Ero-isekai parody concept and "The hero's fall" by way of having system messages pop up.

The systems discussed here,sadly, always find themselves falling in the trap of "oh yeah this is so fucking cool god i fucking lo-what...do i have to write and do this??? Isekai systems exist to simplify going from A to B by using an easy system to implement everywhere. Biggest example i can think its "lazy isekais" where the idea is clearly "i just want to write a story where i hang around a house and people come to suck my dick" but that's not interesting, so they add something like "the biggest woodcarver"... but researching wood carving is boring and i dont care, so just use isekai powers to make 400000 of something so i can write this shit.

My TLDR is that battle systems here are born from the idea of making something cool with chuubas, and since you have to write it instead of shitting it all over a template...its hard

I think it was actually proposed in the original idea building for a holo trap dungeon was to use some zero/one player rpg system in order to create the structure of the narrative then fill it out with the appropriate rape and corruption as you follow along the inevitable jenga tower collapse of *insert chuuba here* mind breaking in the dungeon.

yeah the OG version of holotrap dungeon, as it was discussed, was pretty much like Ninisani scenario: A game that you had to write off featuring a chuuba getting raped.
Its only the other version that gets more attention because its easy and really fun as a way to get back in the groove to write scenarios for it since it has a degree of freshness (Femanon becoming a dumb gachikoi) while also being fairly noncommital.

I DO! I got my final boss music ready, the scenes that have been playing in my head for months, and a powerful autistic desire to see this part of my story completed. I have thought about ways of automating it, but it's tricky. There's a lot of "junk" in the data sometimes that requires manual parsing and fixing in titles, URLs etc. Maybe I can work with AA to get read access to the Google Sheets that's driving the script page and pull the titles and URLs directly without digging for them through Rentry. Still leaves the Series subdirectory to do, but that's not too much. I'll see if I can do that when I fire up my home servers again.

What if you're one of those "gentleman kidnappers" who isn't really an evil person but they're only kidnapping someone because they want some companionship? I know it goes away from the original prompt and all, but making the kidnapper to be a truly nice person (despite committing a crime) wouldn't be a bad thing, no?

Heck, you could even use that "on the run from someone and needs to hide" bit and when she's finally safe and free and no longer has to hide, you could then refuse her her freedom because you've gotten so attachment to her (and smitten) and you want to keep her close to you at all times.
