Thanks for reading. Looking back over the original Holocalypse makes me glad I went through with the remake since it was pretty hard to read through, so hearing you say it's written better makes me feel a little proud. Most of the plot will be told using that switch between intermissions of the past and the main story since it'll give me a chance to make some of the characters more important to the narrative. Amelia for example has gone from "random girl" to a key part of the overarching story and I've got a lot planned for her.
The version of the wasteland in the original also felt too soft so it's good to see the desolate world I've made this time get noticed. Nice to hear the action read well too, but the music really had nothing to do with me. Lost Judgment just fucking killed it with their soundtrack. If you're thinking of adding music to your own story, don't think about it too hard. Just find a track that you like and play it while you read the scene in mind. If it works, just throw in a link.

Yeah, it's a complete overhaul. I'll still be following the story of the original (including the planned stuff that never got released) and include key scenes (save Aqua, meet Botan, liberate Albatross, get bullied by small women, coast trip, Sui, Vilton, hospital ambush and escape) but I wanted to add way more scenes to the story and make it more coherent. A few changes to the cast as well, which I see you've noticed. Koyo will indeed be starring. As for Aqua, she has a lot to come so her sickness is only the beginning of her relationship with (You). The amount of worldbuilding and lore will ease up in the second chapter and even more so in the third, but I'll keep that in mind. I mostly just needed to get a lot of it out of the way for context and building the setting.

And hopefully all this happens before the end of April. After that the VNs basically done. I just have to spend a week of structuring/UI/extra implementation (hopefully it will only take a week), a week of more writing/scripting for all the shit I want to add (limiting myself to a week for this), and then a week of bugtesting/playtesting. De facto, the longer chapters are better for pacing than shorter chapters. If only because by nature of length more gets done in the space of a single 'read'.
Though I do have to agree, structurally the fact that this arc is inherently built around a bunch of OCs the readers struggle to really care about really fucks it over. The first five chapters had a good thing going from the protagonist/shiori duo and it kind of feels like the two of them have been in the backseat for this entire arc.
I know some part of that is intentional since they are (reduced to) kids in a (made up) world that's bigger than them but well... that aspect is kind of what's making this arc feel so, for lack of a better phrase, 'lacking in agency'. It's like they know they're stuck in a game but they're just letting stuff play out in front of them instead of rattling the cage and seeing if there's a way ahead. Especially since they're kind of being 'railroaded' by the adults in their lives instead of trying to proactively prod at everything to fish out name fragments.
I'm honestly not sure how this can get fixed, I can see what's going wrong but with the nature of how this arc is getting presented I don't really see how it can get fixed without redacted and Shiori just deciding to fuck around and not immerse themselves in the town of their memories... which would make this a different kind of arc altogether.
Like I'm still interested in this story but man, every fucking chapter is just me waiting for these OCs to die and for the murders to kick in.

Thanks. Originally i was asking for a roster pic, since i wanted to write a "HoloEN parents get an invitation to a mistery place".
The idea was those that i mentioned+one or two wildcards showed up and established some implied past (Like Paparat originally being a rat and getting huge by bench pressing kangaroos and Mr.Ravencroft+Mamamori hating Mamatori for making their daughters kinda gay).

The whole point of the joke was that they were assembled to adress subject X (anon) and paint him as some kind of semi-mitical figure that they need to make their daughters breed with (ANON FUCK MY DAUGHTER, SHE HAS X CATS/IS ALL ABOUT IDOLS, HER OVARIES ARE DIYING) with some jokes like Paparat rigging all the gaming chairs with a hidden fart compartment so he can sabotage any stream, Mr ravencroft being able to deliver "Astarion Lore" through an EMP that turns girls into theather kids and Mamatori even threathening to unleash "global wawafication" and turning everyone gay.

So yeah. the whole premise was just an excuse for a joke...until i realized i had no punchline. I spent like 20 minutes sitting going through iterations (they all activate their countermeasures and that creates Hololive EN with the joke being it was a prequel, Anon going NO WAY FAG and backflipping away, Zeta leaking the information and going "we do a little trolling" or the hag council crashing the party) but in the end none landed.

So that idea is just gone, and so im sharing it with the thread because i thought it was amusing. Also i kinda wanted Triad boss mamarat to make a cameo and a gigantic dadseki going "I THINK WE SHOULD RESPECT TRUE LOVE" but it was all floating in my mind palace with no way to connect it

That was a nice experiment, might try to flesh it out later. SCP-like stuff can be fun as a format yet the original site is not very fun anymore. Even the RPC fucks seem more reasonable these days. And they shouldn't seem so reasonable.
Anyways, have fun with this prompt/idea whatever. I don't know how to submit it to the archive for people's inspiration anyways, but I hope this was a good read.
