I don't know why you wouldn't just use Claude in that case. Chub use 70B models from what I know and Midnight Miqu on local blows it out of the water. Midnight Rose from the series is a tad worse but not as good but suffices for being completely in the clear not using a leak.
If you need to run an uncensored model at that size for RP without the hardware, you're best off trying to run it off OpenRouter.

My suggestion for a Mixtral 7Bx8 finetune is either Typhon-Mixtral or Nous Hermes Mixtruct, the first for more lewd focus and the second for smarts. But really, even partial offloading of very quantized 70B models is better in terms of quality, I feel but everyone has their own tolerance for what is great. I'm excited to see how Llama-3 8B and 70B finetunes will end up performing. You should try partial offloading of Command-R though. Has enough quality to match vanilla Miqu and is relatively uncensored.

My gpu is an old piece of shit that isn't any faster than cpu and the coil whine isn't worth the few layers I could offload. Command-R is literally ten times slower than Mixtral for me, and Yuzu hits a nice balance of lewd and brains as far as I'm concerned. Non-mixtral NH was way too flowery for me when I tried it, not interested in testing any other variants. I might give Typhon a try at some point but for now Yuzu is pretty solid.

Nitro is just openrouter's way of indicating that a given cloud provider has a very high streaming speed in tokens/second, both of them are running the same model, the normal is more than fast enough for me

oh and if youre using it with SillyTavern make sure you pick the correct model in the second dropdown under openrouter and deselect the fallback option so they don't route you to different models if there's a delay, sometimes it takes the wizardLM backends like 2-3 seconds to spin up and you don't want to get redirected in that time

Is it just me or do GPT 4 seems to only be marginally better than GPT 3.5 in term of roleplay?
In my experience the response in 3.5 seem a bit more varied and in "character" with my card character settings compared to GPT 4. In fact, I think GPT 4 seem a bit repetitive and a bit too similar in it's response.
The only thing GPT 4 seem to be far better with is with writing erotic content in story/novel form. Since GPT 3.5 seem to easily get confused if there is more than 2 character in a scene.

Nope, I only have 16/8 on my PC so I use openrouter for this one - head over to /lmg/ on /g/ for better answers about RAM, I think you might be able to barely squeeze a quanted 8x22 into 64 but I'm unsure. Near-launch 4 was drastically better than 3.5 for RP but they've been censoring it ever since. These days there's not as much flavor in its writing as there used to be (even with a jailbreak). I've moved on to spicier/cheaper LLMs but 4 is still definitely better at keeping track of things than 3.5 and a really strong model all-around.

Yeah that lines up with my experiences and feelings pretty closely, I've actually settled on 8x22 as a favorite - I did try opus briefly once but it didn't seem too far beyond sonnet which I've used extensively

I know benchmarks and such put wizard behind claude but there's something about the tone and the unique wording and visual descriptions sprinkled through 8x22 outputs that just really appeal to me, time will tell if the preference is lasting or due to style novelty

The main thing is really according to the author(s) here at https://twitter.com/WizardLM_AI/status/1780101465950105775, they "screwed" up and forgot to do "toxicity training" on the models which meant it was fairly uncensored out of the gate minus the standard stuff and morals programmed in which you can easily prompt and jailbreak yourself out of.
I think it will stand as the champ of local models until someone manages to get a really good finetune of Llama3-70B in and so far, it's not looking great, a lot of stuff needs to change and the first round basically involved people doing the bare minimum to actually adapt from L2 to L3 for training.
