At a very basic level, this should be your approach for making content:
You're not looking to make a thousand videos. You are looking to make the same video a thousand times.
The key is to find the formula for that video.
The rest is just finding the keywords attracting new viewers to your formula every time.
You might think this is a boring way of approaching it but this is how you get an initial foothold. I like using picrel as example (IRL). She just makes the same video over and over again, just with different good keywords. Notice how the views dip for the only bad choice of keywords she has made here. That's what you should look to do. After that, it's just a time game, because you are bound to get viewers this way, and more importantly, retain them.

As someone who has spent money on ads for Youtube before, it wont give you a community.
You're gonna get viewers and maybe subs but it's not gonna build a community for you.
If you're making offline content, so videos for youtube only (and I don't mean clip compilations or best moments, like actual youtube videos like essays or even songs) then I'd say go for it because it will give your videos slightly more visibility.
If you think its gonna translate into Twitch viewers, you are gonna be surprised.

Also if you're not careful with your money, it can get addicting to get the dopamine rush of seeing your numbers go up and suddenly stagnate when you stop paying, which will lead you to wanna pay more and before you realize you've spent a lot more than you intended.

I can't pick a favorite viewer because I have a lot that I look forward to seeing every stream. I have had some viewers that did lots of work for my streams making videos, making artwork, tracking stats, and participating in stream gimmicks. Fwiw I think lance is one of the better commander shows out there. Mainly because it's a wide variety of player skill. You can keep going as Mama, you just need to have more clarity in how you're doing it. I get that you wanted to be a lewdtuber, but your content doesn't reflect that at all. Did you ever do much ASMR aside from the 1 stream? You also shouldn't be expecting immediate success. You're doing fine for someone who started relatively recently. If you really want to rebrand, you will still have to make it clear what kind of streamer you want to be. A novelist streamer going through the process sounds cozy, but keep in mind most people won't care about the book process at all, and it will just be more of a theme to what will pretty much be art and zatsu streams. I should clarify — my hiatus doesn’t have to do with vtubing at all and has to do with divorce and moving. I’m trying to move by mid August. It’s not about my channel performance. I was actually really surprised that I was regularly getting about 20CCV which is insane to me.

I didn’t make more ASMR content because I lack a lot of equipment like a stand. I don’t want to buy a lot of streaming equipment right now because of the move, and the audio interface I am using with the ASMR mic doesn’t work well with it. It’s the UMC Behringer 22. It has a plug for vocals and a plug for an instrument, and that’s what I have the cords plugged into, but it makes the ASMR mic audio come out weird — so I need to get the Scarlett Focusrite 2i2(?) or something when I move.

If I have an irritating voice though I need to reconsider whether this is the path for me. I appreciate your honesty.

I'll give you an example to showcase the work that needs to be done.
I just use google trends here, free and doesn't require an account. Picrel shows how strong of a tool this is.
I'm gonna use TTRPG as an example since this was mentioned early in the thread.
So I just put TTRPG and a bunch of related terms. When applicable, also check the popularity of certain games. It gives you a better idea of how a keyword compares.
Here you can clearly see that on youtube, I have a very strong keyword for this activity. "Roleplay" is even more popular than the most common tabletop game out there. This is a winning keyword.
So a winning formula for this style of content would be something like:
>Clips of funny tabletop moments, with titles using the keyword (something like "When the roleplay gets a little sus" or some shit like that)
>Advice to people who want to better roleplay during their sessions
>Recounting your best tabletop moments, talking about roleplay moments that made you laugh
That's the kind of strategy that will work given enough time. Do this with 3-4 strong keywords and you'll get a niche fairly quickly. It's that simple, really. The hard part is the commitment. The strategy is easy if you are imaginative and search for the right keywords.
