>The Fox Who Lost His Tail
>Aesop

>A Fox that had been caught in a trap, succeeded at last, after much painful tugging, in getting away.
>But he had to leave his beautiful bushy tail behind him.

>For a long time he kept away from the other Foxes, for he knew well enough that they would all make fun of him and crack jokes and laugh behind his back.
>But it was hard for him to live alone, and at last he thought of a plan that would perhaps help him out of his trouble.

>He called a meeting of all the Foxes, saying that he had something of great importance to tell the tribe.

>When they were all gathered together, the Fox Without a Tail got up and made a long speech about those Foxes who had come to harm because of their tails.

>This one had been caught by hounds when his tail had become entangled in the hedge.
>That one had not been able to run fast enough because of the weight of his brush.
>Besides, it was well known, he said, that men hunt Foxes simply for their tails, which they cut off as prizes of the hunt.
>With such proof of the danger and uselessness of having a tail, said Master Fox, he would advise every Fox to cut it off, if he valued life and safety.

>When he had finished talking, an old Fox arose, and said, smiling:

>“Master Fox, kindly turn around for a moment, and you shall have your answer.”

>When the poor Fox Without a Tail turned around, there arose such a storm of jeers and hooting, that he saw how useless it was to try any longer to persuade the Foxes to part with their tails.

It literally doesn't say it's "bad". The % is used because Playboard tracks all kinds of channels and you have many music cover channels or meme compilation channels with <1 mil subs that have videos with 10-20 mil views. Those channels would have a "high" rating for subs/view ratio.

There's a core of fans that will watch basically anything (or maybe just go afk, who knows). It's more obvious the lower the stream numbers. Kiara loses almost no one when she goes to SC reading from one of her debuff streams and sometimes even goes up if people find out she's talking about something interesting. Most of the IDs with small fanbases are the same. Meanwhile Gura can easily have 10k people instantly fuck off when she ends the game portion of her stream, if she reads SCs.

Selen's the most obvious in Niji EN, because she has the highest ceiling and the most people that drop off when she finishes her main content (Apex). Finana has a much lower variance because her streams are almost always just her core fans.

The argument against the tab out theory in this specific case is that Kuzuha does not gain his viewers back quickly when the shooting starts again. They come in gradually as they get deeper into the match. For example, he doesn't peak at the same number every match. If he loses early, he peaks lower and vice versa.

That, combined with the higher than normal VOD views for this CCV, tells me that people are bouncing around streams instead to see the survivor's perspective and then defaulting back to Kuzuha for the next match. I mean, it's understandable since it's boring to watch them wait for the next match. The same phenomenon happens to Hal too, who also gets higher than normal VOD views.

How will the new HoloEN affect NijiEN's numbers?
>new HoloEN regulary collab with Nijis, causing their numbers to increase
>NijiEn fans(formerly Holo fans) abandon them to watch Hololive instead, they now all have 2-3 digit viewers

It really depends on how many of the people currently watching NijiEn are just tourists waiting for the latest and greatest thing to come along, if they're dual-watchers, or if they're jilted ex-holoEN fans.
The more tourists there are, the worse off they'll be.
The less able that HoloEN Gen 2 is able to grab new blood/expand the market, the worse off all the smaller agencies and HoloGen1 will be numbers wise, as they'll just end up cannibalising existing viewers.
I don't think NijiEN is going to be hurt significantly as I believe they've had time to secure a good portion of their current viewership, but they may lose some viewers if they overlap.
IMO if this Gen had come out sometime in July, NijiEN would be in way more trouble.
>>8173159
Right, here's a video that talks in part about that sort of thing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2xHZPH5Sng
The thing is, the girls stream multiple times a week and also have other commitments that are holorelated outside of just streaming.
Yes, a good thumbnail and title are important for getting people to click, but unlike a single vid that might come out once every few weeks, some of them are streaming every day.
As such, they likely don't commit as much time/energy as they should to their thumbnail+title game except for special events.

>> No.8174465

There is obviously a desire to grab the Western market by both companies. Hololive has the advantage, and with Gen 2, is likely to keep it. Whether Niji EN drops in numbers or not remains to be seen, and depends on how big the Western market is.

Another question is whether Holo EN Gen 2 will affect Gen 1. I think Gen 2 will help pull in more viewers sure, and overall grow the market, but at the same time could create winners and losers. For example: Gura might go up by more people coming in, but Mori might go down (this is just an example). Depending on what the people like more.

it would take 180 different people each 30 seconds to join the stream, vote, leave the stream, continuously during the 4 hours without missing any 30 seconds period.

It is not impossible but it is schizophrenic. Here is the tale of four streams

Watame: https://piyo.chats.ninja/video/youtube/VYk1zdGfPzI
Maimoto: https://piyo.chats.ninja/video/youtube/vVCamdQgUr4
Hal: https://piyo.chats.ninja/video/youtube/O2Gkam-w4ow
Miko: https://piyo.chats.ninja/video/youtube/5XgOWuKwcjc

Watame's and Maimoto's have an expected pattern
> Watame
3D Live: people join continuously and stay to the end without much variation due to the short duration
> Maimoto
People join and leave in a seemlingly random fashion with either a persistent upward trend or a persistent downward trend

Then you have two types of schizophrenic behaviours:

>Hal
People stay until the conclusion of a fight, then bail when there are "dead time" then either they themselves return when the fight picks up speed or some other completely different people enter the stream up until the more or less same peak

and last
>Miko
Bounces EXACTLY between 19k people and 20k people for half an hour, with 200 people joining and leaving every 30 seconds maintaining the exact same peak in an almost straight line for a long time

Both the APEX example and the "schizo chart" example are hard to explain. It is possible to formulate theories but it looks more like an artifact caused by the algorithm measuring CCV than regular human behaviour

Obviously the simplest answer would be certain chuuba are more entertaining than others. This also depends on the type of stream (viewer participation stream would have higher participants and retention rate compare to singler player stream) and whether or not it is a weekday or weekend.

Maybe the YouTube AI specifically looks for East Asian accounts, and deducts more viewers because of the abuse to their system by some of their extreme fans. This would make some sense, and explain why VTubers with accounts from Japan are effected. Even Holo EN has Japanese accounts. The idea would be that such extreme fans are more likely to bot than others. I know many East Asian people can be VERY competitive, and maybe the AI discriminates a bit to balance for it. Just a thought.

kek, does ANYONE even call her that instead of Calli?

Anyway, here is her weekly median for 2021 in a completely different chart format that includes, both visually and in writing, the median and number of streams that week.

Calli seems to be holding her median between 5k and 8k, with some weeks being stronger for varied reasons.

>but I guess YouTube follows the "one kid in class steps out of line, the whole class gets punished"
But the AI is not accurate enough in its judgements, so I assume it has to do something when abused by hardcore fans. I don’t think there is an easy answer, because it cannot easily separate the good from bad. So it’s more broad. But we could be wrong about all this. It’s just a thought.

>I still don't get the appeal of KPOP to this day.
The simply took the concept of "boy band" and "girl band" and picked up from where the western labels dropped.

There is conceptually no difference between the success of The New Kids on The Block in the 80s, Take That, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC in the 90s and 00s, One Direction in the 2010s and whatever shovelware coming from Korea these days gets called "KPop"

Mori fans are mostly for her music, Look at her last two music releases.
Envy Baby and Grim Reaper live streamer, both 1.2 million in two weeks, Digging out her livestream numbers is pointless, She's clearly not about that streaming life like others.

This happened yesterday to Elira, she tried to stream Omori twice yesterday on youtube and it kept disconnecting her, for the first 10 min video she had 800 ccv, for the second 4 min video she had 100 ccv,as soon as she gave up and went to twitch she got 1.8k viewers and maintained that throughout. It's not perfect because she decided to not play Omori on twitch and instead just fucked around chatting and playing some jump king, but it's still insightful.

Did IRyS gain Twitter followers at the same rate at Holo EN gen2? Maybe the numbers between IRyS and Gen 2 is more of a YouTube issue, if Twitter doesn’t show much of a difference?
