a.) Odd design overall. Ignore skin tone and her face looks a little long/eyes spaced very wide like a moe character only on a thick rockin' body whic looks odd. Giant hair dango things look corny, like something out of a 90s/early 00s fighting game character. The mascot is an "lol wtf is that" doodle trapped in a .. thingy. THAT's Yatagarasu, the Japanese sun god? That fucker is a crow... some gecko/Gumby looking thing is not a crow. Having a bird companion would have been just fine. c.) the voice. her personality is great but man that is a funky voice and clearly the accent actually is a thing for some people. I like Oz accents usually but am thinking of like, Crocodile Dundee or Steve Irwin where they as actors or public educators are trained to enunciate clearly. Sana is a bit mush-mouthed sometimes and if you have to strain a bit to understand her that is kind of annoying and not-comfy. Sort of like how Kiara was at first kind of annoying to listen to with the potato mic and improved a lot with a better one, because German accent, but Kiara's accent isn't remotely as thick as Sana's. Baelz also has an accent but she enunciates better so it's more like funky little inflections on otherwise understandable speech.

The algorithm is working fine. Mass subscription to 5 new channels with no content uploaded yet does seem like bot behavior.
Their channels were then probably placed under stricter scrutiny since bot activity was detected.

VTubing has had two big periods of growth. First was back in 2017 with Kizuna Ai. It lasted in Japan into 2018 but mainly faded everywhere else.

2nd was 2020 with Hololive's huge growth & Covid lockdowns. It lasted into 2021 but is now passing us.

It's not really a "bubble," but we're probably past the peak of that second wave. A lot of the people who got into HL back in 2020/early 2021 are no longer active viewers. Most indies who had big growth in that same timeframe are now seeing their growth stagnate and live viewer count even decline.

Hololive is chump change in streaming. They have combined concurrent views smaller than some streamers, let alone streaming companies.
Youtube doesnt have any real contact support even for genuinely big channels, they're not going to make an exception for: a) streamers, since they make way less money than they should, b) vtubers, which are terrible for marketing now that ironic weeaboism is dying off and becoming le cringe.
Also they've been trying to discourage secondary channels and from a youtube perspective hololive is a single streaming company spread across 50+ side channels. They hate this.

Hololive has an album with character sheets and already thought out names and a lore blurb and you pick from those. You can MAYBE add small details if they're really easy to make and animate and rig but its not the norm at all.

There is also one case where theres a 10-channel normie tuber collab and they all gain ~1k subs. YT then slash ~500 subs from all of them with little to no reason given out by YT when they complained.
