I doubt it. But any big singers here?
How do record covers in a decent manner? I don't even know the difference but there's always the clear difference you can hear even with the good singers when they're just doing crappy covers or karaoke and the quality just sounds bad beyond just their voice quality.

Narrating is the easy one people do. It's also the cringiest but at least it fills dead air.
If you can tell stories and just pretend there's a chat there to play off of, though you might need to go schizo for this.
Or you could just sing.

>> No.9317250

talk about a story then ask a yes or no question to the "chat" and pick a response. when you get big enough that chat is moving fast, you won't be able to have a conversation with anyone, just a blur of comments. practice for that.

The more I look into this and prepare for streaming the more excited and anxious I get. I have a design that should hopefully be done by the end of the month and that I can get rigged soon after. I have a friend and some connections who are giving solid advice. Have someone who can help with BGM. I have ideas for games to play and content to do. IDK what else I'm missing other than just streaming.

I get my capture card tomorrow and I'm thinking of just booting up a blind teststream (no model or png) just to get a head start on tech issues.

I've been debating on posting for awhile, but I really wanted to ask for advice. I'm a smaller vtuber, and my community is very, very kind to me, to the point that it's hard to get feedback.
Lately, I've been doing vocal exercises and warmups, but I wanted more outside input on my voice. If you have any additional tips or suggestions that would be a great as well!

(Note: I usually have a noise suppression filter + a noise gate to drain that background static out during my streams)

It's hard to really give advice on a voice sample alone, without having any idea of how well it does or doesn't mesh with your overall theming and character model.

I think it's an extremely cute voice, for some reason something like a rodent comes to mind when I hear it. I like the beginning since it sounds like you have a sort of accent but it kind of gets lost once you start doing the tongue twister, maybe because you're seriously trying to complete it and not embarrass yourself.
Not sure who you are or what you normally do in streams though so can't offer advice there, but so far your voice is pretty solid.

I'm a ghost vtuber that specifically haunts the internet! (I've been likened to Ene from Kagepro, concept-wise.)
I'm going to design a more casual outfit at some point, so maybe I can try to tune it more to that vibe!
>>9322418
I have a bit of an amalgamation of accents from moving around throughout the years. I hope that it sounds primarily neutral, but it does occasionally cause me to mess up on different words / sentences. Maybe the tongue twister caused me to focus on my speech more than usual, causing it to drown out! Never noticed that before.

Overall, I'm trying to prepare for the next round of HoloEN auditions. I haven't been able to try out the last two times due to IRL things. The feedback you are all giving me helps me know how I can sell myself when audition time comes, so I appreciate it!

My university gave us a lot of advice on how to make resumes for regular companies as well as how to format it to work with bots that sort through resumes. Just be yourself.
Overdone advice but basically don't be desperate and don't pretend you're something you're not. Companies can sniff it out a mile away when someone is faking it and more importantly, if your goals and ideas of what the Corp provide differs from what they actually provide, you'll be in for a rough time but now you're locked in contract.

Most these companies, at least the decent ones, know its a job not your golden ticket to fame. So you showing up looking at it as a real job with questions about what the benefits are and what you're expected to do makes you look like a professional who cares about doing the job right as opposed to a desperate kid who'll do "anything" to get in but not realizing the work it actually is.

I would recommend adding some more stitching, specifically in the face area. Doesn't need to be a lot more, just enough to emphasize. Playing around with stitching patterns and designs might help it look more uniquely hand-made without adding too much complexity, too. You can look up 'cute stitching patterns' and 'embroidery stitching' for inspiration.

When it comes to plush and fabric materials, texture is key for a person to recognize it as such. Since your design is a plush stitched together from multiple materials, it would be good for you to identify what materials they are and find textures you can overlay on them. Considering the feel you're going for, it would be cool if the textures contrasted somewhat too.

For your microphone, you need to make an audio source for that too.
I just use my headphone audio for everything. You might need to test for delays. You can also look up online how to get a reverb effect for your microphone.

It works. You link your streaming platform through their website.

I didn't like using it very much, because it doesn't offer the whole catalogue of their music to you. You basically have to listen to it through their website with their "streamer mode"(can't remember the exact name right now) enabled, so it doesn't play any music you can't use.

If there's any particular artist you like definitely make sure that they are available through their content creator program.

As a small indie, I've found it difficult to do collabs so far, partially because of similar reasons. Most of the collabs I've done have started late due to people being unprepared or unorganized. I don't expect people to be perfect and I don't expect sudden technical difficulties not to happen, but it really sucks when I usually start my streams on time but I'm waiting 15-30 minutes past stream-time that due to it.
I get worried when going out into the wild and asking for collabs because buying new games isn't exactly an expense I'd like to take right now, too.
I'd like to have friends I could simply get on and play games with, like a typical streamer... a lot of collabs I see are combinations of people without any chemistry that are just there for the sake of collabs. It'd be nice to do more with friends or acquaintances who have a similar drive.

It's a good way to grow, but it isn't necessary by any means. People will follow you for your content. You can potentially get a lot of dead follows / dead subs from collabs if you don't particularly catch the audience.

I would say collabs work better when your audiences are interested in the other collaborators. They might help with exposure, but you can grant yourself plenty of exposure by doing social media reps and having decent content.

i think a lot of chuubas, especially indies still just treat this like a bunch of friends playing games together instead of a proper entertainment act that streaming is. this is why i'm avoiding collabs until i know the person i'm streaming with takes it as seriously as i do. i don't mean serious in the game, but the logistics, the timing, sorting out sound and audio issues well before the scheduled time.

waiting for a collab partner to just INSTALL the game that we're scheduled to collab is bad, like that pikamee + nijisanji collab with vshojo in Prop Hunt and a bunch of them didn't even have the game ready to go.

>> No.9397680

I agree on the novel and cute but I ain't worried about my personal opsec. Hell my character is just gonna have my regular first name. As long as I'm not literally giving away my actual address or making it so easy to learn who I am that no vtuber ever wants to talk to me, I'm happy. I think no matter what I do I will inevitably have some connection to older personal stuff so it's not worth the effort to go full kayfabe.

>> No.9397961

>>9397215
I totally agree. I'd like friends that I can just do things with, but what I really want friends who I have chemistry streaming with, enjoy entertaining as much as I do, and have some kind of drive to put in at least some amount of effort into content. I want to make content with substance, and not have collabs that feel empty or disingenuous.

A few of my older friends want to be streamers but they don't want to put in the effort to stream or want to take it as a more serious thing. One of the biggest problems with them is that they never seem to want to sort out things like audio issues or consider scheduling. It honestly makes me feel like I'm drifting away from them sometimes.

I'm trying to branch out and make more friends within the vtuber community, but I've been struggling to find people who wish to hold themselves up to some standard of quality and organization. Not that I'm asking for perfection, but just asking for people to want to put a little effort into things in the entertainment and preparedness front.
I'm sure I'll find more people as I continue on, though. I'm busy with uni right now so I'm focusing on my own content.

There's a tonne of useful things here:
"Channels with viewers in common" can be good to @ on the last day of the month on twitter, get some extra visibility.
"Where do my views come from" can be used to see where your shilling is most effective - for instance, I've had 2 views in the last 7 days come from reddit, and 12 from discord. So I can focus on Discord for interactions, to drive that number up, or on Reddit to get that number larger - I got upvotes and comments, so I just need to do a bit more. I tried making one post on Tumblr, got 0 views on it or from it, and so I'm not going to worry about that going forward
"What category do my viewers watch" is kind of useful, but be warned - I've got 40% art, 40% just chatting. This is based on time spent watching, and art/JC streams can be a lot longer than others, and background, so they can be weird with stats.

>>9427641
It's only barely classed as art - I took their PNG and made some stupid edits in MSpaint in line with a recent meme I'd seen them like on twitter.

What counts are worth celebrating?

I just hit 100 followers on Twitch (And twitter, but that's shit). So I kind of feel like I should do something, but I already have a birthday stream planned.

I've got one planned for 150, but then is it worth doing similar for 200, 250, etc? At what point do viewers stop caring? Going for 1050 seems silly (that's at least a year away, though), but 1000 is obviously worth hyping. Is 900?

>> No.9432852

>>9432469
This reminds me of that one kid on youtube that did a 1 subscriber celebration video. Honestly you shouldn't overdo it, doing a celebration for every 100 seems a bit excessive. You don't even have to do a "celebration" thingy anyway, just thank everyone that you hit that mark and move on.

See, I think that it's probably worth doing a celebration of some sort each month - not saying go full on subathon/donothan every four weeks, but have a larger stream that's a bit outside your normal wheelhouse. I can't remember which corp it was, but they had minimum requires stream 3/week collab 1/month, and I figured a collab is a larger event, especially in a corp.
Affiliate celebration is reasonable, as is birthday, and then a anniversary of streaming seems fair too. Six months of streaming is ~eh, but it's close to Christmas, so might be worth doing as a before holidays stop some plans.
100 is a solid number, so celebrate that is good. But I think the rest are kind of like school certificates - once you get your College degree, your high school diploma doesn't really matter much. Once you get a Masters, your degree doesn't really matter.
So 50, 100, maybe 150, 250, are all solid milestones, but after that, it's maybe not worth it until 500, then 1000. But if you need a milestone to celebrate then I guess it works?

Maybe? Regular streaming is without a doubt tougher, but you need to have some sort of experience since these sorts of jobs tend to require almost constant interactions with chat or constant dialogue. Not everyone is just able to talk to themselves casually or just go onto tangents and stories unprompted while keeping things safe. So regular streaming could work as practice so long as you're actually practicing and not just sitting there silently streaming.
