Towa played a lot of OW and dropped it for Apex, having now played both I'd say it's probably because it has much more interactions in the team play aspects compared to OW, which has better gunplay... And sure, OW has teamplay aspects but 1) it's not popular in JP 2) you need to get to a fairly high level until the aspects become more obvious. Also OW is near constant shooting and Apex is like 10% shooting.

Yeah I was doing that with varying rates of success. Sometimes I'd ping the hot zone and people just ignore it and drop in a random corner of the map, or I get people to drop there and there's nobody there anyway, this happened about 50% of the times. And the times there actually were people and we'd kill them, my team just spends 10 min looting the area while I basically wait for them to start moving and starting to look for people to kill which is a whole different problem entirely. I'm obviously retarded and don't know how the maps work but usually I just run towards the center of the circle and hope my team follows, sometimes we don't see enemies for 5mins and sometimes my team doesn't follow me at all because they want to keep looting. I'm still in the bot lobbies so I'm sure the problem is even worse for me until I increase my hidden MMR

generally people dont actually go to the middle of the zone, they will either be fighting on the outside edge of it or way out of the zone, at least at the start. the reason youre not finding people at the start is likely because youre playing with other new players. they're all just trying to learn the maps and dont know shit about the game so they just go where ever and basically play at their own pace til they get shit on by some team thats actually been fighting. an easy way to get into higher skilled lobbies would just be find someone thats played the game more and bring you up a tier of player.
