It's basically a catch all for an event, so you get things like game shows where people will win little prizes for answer questions, or sometimes companies will come to do a Q&A, usually it's just shotty presentations about various niche hobbies (e.g. lolita is usually a big one, the fashion that is). One I go to usually has a fashion show where jap designers come by and show case their designs though its a bigger con so don't expect anything like that from a smaller one.

Basically it's just a big place to sperg about your hobby with people of a similar mindset. Same shit as car shows.
